Rebecca Naughtin Architect

I was fortunate to meet and work with architect Rebecca and her wonderful team, in particular, Andrew MacKinnon architect, on my very first foray into property development. A simple google search on best architects in inner city Northern suburbs of Melbourne matched me with Rebecca. A casual meeting to discuss my idea and development was all I needed to be assured that this was the design team that I wanted to collaborate with. During this meeting she took me to two projects underway so I could see her work and meet the builders and trades on site. I was very impressed. Rebecca's and Andrew's inclusiveness, willingness to share ideas and educate me on best options and outcomes was second to none. Like I said, this was my first property development venture so I needed a LOT of hand holding. My experience with Rebecca and Andrew was excitement for my project and a genuine desire to immerse me in their world of design. Every naive question was answered with patience, care and above all else an encouragement to find out more and to be prepared for the next step. Meetings were prepared; all information collated in an easy and FUN way to understand. Potential issues thought through and solutions offered for me to consider and provide my instructions on. The team of consultants were fabulous. Interior design consultant Rainey Pensini was brilliant in setting out a clear pallet board with textures and colours that I could picture and elaborate on with her, confidently and with ease. The planning application was seamless. Issues were attended to and I had confidence in the relationship Rebecca and Andrew had formed with my allocated planning officer at Darebin Council. When it came to the tender process, meetings with builders were arranged and Andrew attended the initial interviews with me, on site, pointing out some key questions to raise and after each interview summarising key elements of the answers they gave on the day. He took notes while I fired the questions! A fulsome summary of the tenders was provided so I could fully understand the pros and cons of each tender together with pricing differences and key aspects of the quote for my careful thought. Unfortunately, it was not the right time for me to embark on the project. This has been shelved for a few years so I can reconsider my options. However, all the hard work has been done. The planning permit has been issued and all I need to do is wait for the right time to embark on this adventure. Not now....but soon enough! I cannot recommend Rebecca, Andrew and her team enough. Professional; incredibly talented and above all else a real pleasure to work with. You won't be disappointed. Your vision is not only their challenge...but your shared dream!

We are so glad we engaged Rebecca and the team at RNA. They put in an amazing effort to make our dream house into a reality. We are absolutely thrilled with the renovation of our California Bungalow, designed by Rebecca Naughtin Architects. Working with Rebecca, lead architect Reece Julian and the team has been a pleasure from our very first meeting and throughout the design and construction phase. We loved our fortnightly meetings with the builders (Resicon), Reece, Andrew and Rebecca and always felt that we were in very good hands. The brief was for an open plan kitchen, dining and living area enabling light and views into our rear garden and beyond to the leafy plane trees in a nearby street. In the fusion of the old and new, a delightful transition has been achieved that takes us into a light filled modern living space and a bold and functional kitchen with soaring ceilings. It is hard to believe that this is our home! As well as creating a beautiful and elegant design, RNA provided many suggestions along the way from light fittings, to the colour of the grout … little things can make a huge difference! Some special features that we love; the black Paperock and blackbutt kitchen island, the reeded glass windows, the architectural black door handles, the integrated garden studio/workshed, the coral colour scheme in our new study and there are many, many more. Rebecca and her team have been on a multi year journey, that oddly started on Christmas day 6 years ago! Rebecca guided us through two distinct phases of work, with unique (and some not so unique) challenges on a tight, inner city site that we wanted to completely overhaul for our family. Our experience was unlike most builds with the first phase handled as owner builders undertaking significant structural work, seperated by a few years followed by an extraordinary professional builder (Standout Projects) to complete our vision. Rebecca and her team adapted their engagement style and approach in each phase, during the former providing specific guidance and counsel to an inexperienced self practitioner (me) and in the latter, complete project management and creative execution. Rebecca's approach required great creativity and imagination to extract every square centimetre of space while reflecting who we were - embracing detail, light and intelligent storage. This creativity also extended to problem solving outside aesthetics and function. Rebecca and the team pushed the build team to deliver bespoke solutions where required and to quickly adapt to new circumstances and conditions. She always listened to our feedback and was skillful in meeting the capricious nature of our council while staying true to what we wanted to achieve. We highly recommend Rebecca and Raph to anyone taking on a big challenge! Given the chance we would love to work together with the team again. Thank you Rebecca and Raph!

I met Rebecca about 9 years ago through work and about 3 years ago decided she would be the one to design our forever home for my wife and I, along with our (then 2, now) 3 children and 2 dogs. I was amazed and reassured with the level of data collection from us by her to gain what she and her team needed to come up with the skeleton of the house design. It was a fun process and great to get to know her lovely team. We're literally days from handover and we could not be happy! It ticks every single box we had and many more we didn't think we'd need or want. My advice for anyone thinking about building is trust the architect. We trusted Rebecca and she delivered in droves! Would I do it again, absolutely. But I live in the best house in Gippsland now........
