We worked alongside Jonathan and Sara on a terrace property in Bondi Junction, as builders we find it extremely beneficial to have a collaborative design team and that is exactly what they offered. Throughout the build if there were any queries or unforseens the project had to offer, they were all answered promptly and with ease. We found the project ran extremely easily with Sara and Jonathan and the helm and look forward to commencing another project together in the coming months.

Worked with Jonathan on a number of projects related to commercial office planning, design and DA submissions. Always a pleasure to work with, his knowledge of the intricacies of construction and lanner/council processes gave us a big advantage when making our submissions. Jonathan was commissioned by us a few years back to design and renovate our home to cater for our growing family as well as breathe some life into the old and dark 60’s house we purchased in Auckland. The design he came up with opened up the house to the large rear yard and managed to separate the bedrooms and living areas in a way that allowed us to ensure a separation that meant entertaining visitors was easy and seamless. We entertain a lot so it was vital that the house worked this way whilst still giving our kids (as well as my husband and I ) the privacy we needed. Jonathan worked with us throughout the design process to make sure we were not only happy but that the brief worked without completely knocking down the existing house. The design managed to retain and integrate the old with the new in a way the meant the house functions how we envisioned without any wasted space. During the build, Jonathan Spicer Design was there every step of the way, helping with decisions, advice, purchasing items for the house and tips on where to save money. We have been in the completed house for several years now and still love it as much as day 1. I would recommend (and often do) Jonathan to anyone thinking about taking the step to build their dream home or renovate their current. His calm approach, accessibility and willingness to guide you through makes the process so much more enjoyable.

Excellent Architect, incorporated great modern design features into the renovation of our house and was very understanding of our requests. Very friendly,efficient and worked well with the builder. The results of his work has given us a fantastic house . Highly recommended!

Jonathan helped us renovate a dilapidated terrace on a tight budget. We had no experience renovating and Jonathan patiently stepped us through the process and efficiently honed in on what was most important to us in terms of the design and use of the space. Jonathan had the vision to suggest and design a few low cost, high impact changes that completely revolutionised the use of our very small space, to make it feel so much bigger. With those seemingly simple but effective changes our home feels transformed - it’s a beautiful light filled space that is adaptable to our growing family’s needs.

I only have great things to say about Jonathan Spicer. From the beginning of the project, Jonathan was nothing but professional. Nothing was ever a problem even when it took a while for us, the client, to make decisions! My husband and I purchased a beautiful piece of land three years ago; it spoke to our hearts and we knew that it was the place that we wanted to raise our family. We knew it was for us, but we had absolutely no idea what we were looking for in terms of our dream home nor how to best utilise this hilly spot in the Waikato. I used Jonathan to design and take a project through council. From the start to the finish i couldn’t have asked for a more professional service. He sorted out any issues and chased up council to get my project approved in such a short time. Would definitely use him again

First worked with Jonathan 7 years ago with a cafe he designed for us. We really enjoyed working with him and found the whole process very easy. We wanted someone to think outside the box and help us design a comfortable and welcoming environment for our guest. From the DA to build he was very accommodating to all aspects of our design. Also had a great understanding on fitout and flow of the workplace. Five years later we asked him to design a second cafe for us. Totally different concept but still the same professionalisms which he exceeded our expectations every time. I couldn’t ask for a better experience!

Jonathan completely redesigned our bathroom, from a cramped, rundown 1960s room, into a spacious, usable and modern space. There were a few problems that came up along the way, such as core filled walls, unable to be moved, which meant certain areas had to be rethought. I was out of the city on business and Jonathan was in Sydney, but he liaised with the builders and produced new designs within the hour. There was practically no down time, and the renovation continued, with very little disruption to my day/week. The builders were surprised at the speed he managed to sort through the issues, and produce solutions, which gave us great confidence to his ability and work ethic. He was always available to discuss fixtures and fittings, and contacted suppliers on our behalf to confirm the flow, pressure and dimensions of these. Jonathan guided us through the entire process, and kept us updated daily, and we could not be happier with the outcome. He kept everything within our budget, and set realistic expectations around costs, build times and potential issues that may arise. He’s a passionate and dedicated operator, and he earned a huge amount of trust and respect from us. We will certainly have him do any further design work for us.
