“After receiving several estimates to turn our attic into a master bedroom suite with a bathroom, we went with Thomas Custom Builders (TCB). They did not provide the cheapest estimate we received, but they were extremely professional, provided the most thorough information, seemed focused on doing things right, and we were really comfortable working with them and communicating with them. We are extremely happy we went with TCB. The renovation process hasn't been perfect - which is really not possible - but TCB has been excellent at finding solutions to the unforeseen things we could not anticipate. More importantly, they do things the right way and are honest about what is going on and what needs to be done. This was our first renovation, so we asked a ton of questions, but the entire TCB team always took the time to talk us through stuff and answer any questions we had. Lastly, the quality of their work is superb. We've had some neighbors over throughout the process who have gone through several renovations and they commented that they could tell TCB were true craftsmen based on the quality of their work. I would highly recommend their services and will hire them for any renovation work we do in the future.”

“The owners and crew members of Paragon Constuction are experts in the field of home exterior renovation. The exterior of our 30 year old Colonial home looks like a brand new home. Paragon Construction replaced the old siding with Hardi-Plank siding, new vinyl windows, all exterior trim also replaced. In addition, a new front porch was designed and constructed, a garden shed designed and built, bluestone patio, with built-in grill and firepit, installed, as well as cobblestone pavers along the driveway. “Between 2002 and 2003, Michael Ipsan/Horizon took a small 1,800 square foot circa 1942 farmhouse and integrated an addition that more than tripled the size of the house and resulted in a beautiful contemporary farmhouse, with upgrades to plumbing, electrical, windows and siding in the original part of the house. The integration was seamless and the project came in on-time and on-budget, with wonderful workmanship. While we had retained an architect for the overall design, Michael made many useful suggestions on tweaks to the design that significantly improved the outcome. The kitchen and pantry were recognized by HGTV in their American Home 2005 show, and in 2008 the house was recognized with a spot on the Historic Garden Week in Virginia tour, both testaments to the quality of the construction. We've had other friends who've had nightmare construction projects with other builders; our experience was exactly the opposite. Warranty issues were minor, and Horizon has stood behind the construction even to this day. In the years since it was completed we've been happy to have Michael walk other prospective clients through the house to see what was done, which speaks to our respect for his work and honesty. We can highly recommend Horizon to anyone considering a custom home builder.”

“LU Pearce did a major renovation at our home on Gwynn's Island this past year. A new staircase to our second story was designed to replace a poorly situated spiral one. Ken was able to design exactly what we wanted and it came out beautifully, as if it had always been there. A coat closet (under the new stairs), powder room, and new master bath were also part of the project as well as renovation of a guest bath. Thad and the subcontractors were true professionals. They were easy to work with, patient and helpful in decision making from beginning to end. The project was completed within the estimated time frame and I was able to comfortably work with their allowances for lighting, vanities, fixtures etc. to stay on budget. We are very happy with the finished product!”

Removed two old bathroom, making a new guest bath and enlarged master bath.remodeled laundry room and added mud room. Built new platform and steps from garage into mud room. Replaced old outside deck with new one enlarged by four feet. Great company and well organized. Finished project on time. Started Dec. 2012 and finished April 2013. They have a great team.”
