We arrived in Australia from the UK in 2018 and were looking to build a high performing energy efficient home but kept hitting a brick wall with almost every builder we spoke too. A house with double glazing and packed with insulation. “You don’t need that in Australia” we kept getting told. Houses we had stayed in during our visits to Australia were like fridges in winter and ovens in summer. We definitely did need that. Then out of the blue we got a call from John Rocca at Bellissimo Homes. Someone we had spoken to had given John our details. The next thing we were in the Malaga office in front of John Rocca and Architect Richard Selman from Design2Solutions. At last someone who spoke our language. SIPs insulated panels and Double-Glazed Windows as standard. We had bought a small north facing block in Kallaroo and Richard spent many hours with us exploiting the full potential of the block and maximising the massive amount of solar gain that we could take advantage of. So important in the winter months. All planning details and things like some extra piling required were completely and smoothly dealt with. As soon as the building permit was issued John and Jason Rocca were soon on site with John very hands on and spending a lot of time involved and overseeing the construction work. The trades used Electricians, Plumbers, Carpenters “etc” were excellent and it was good to meet up with them at the topping out ceremony. We have now been living in the property for three years so feel we are in a position to give a very accurate review. We have had no structural problems and any small issues were soon dealt with. The home as delivered what we were promised. Bellissimo Homes, John, Jason and Richard have delivered an energy efficient home that we can all be proud of. Warm in Winter and Cool in Summer.

From the time we rang to find out more about the SIP’s that are used by John Rocco, owner of Bellissimo Homes, to seeing a home being built with the SIP’s, to having our beautiful home built, we were helped in all areas of getting plans drawn up and everything ready for the build. John and his son Jason, made our one and only house build an easy and pleasurable experience. As we were in the country John’s team often stayed with us during their part of the build. We have nothing but praise for their work ethics and were always open to suggestions and gave suggestions where needed. John was always easy to work with and helped with any issues or changes we wanted. His wealth of knowledge helped us to no end. Having worked with this Builder on a Structural Insulated Panel (SIPs) Alternative Construction New Two Storey Residence in Kallaroo which is not far from completion, this Review to highlight the positive experience. Bellissimo Homes is a Family Owned / Run Business, so their personal service is down-to-Earth - an ethos which flows through to the administration Staff where nothing is too hard. John Rocca is an experienced Registered Builder and improvement's he's introduced to the SIPs method in WA have been adapted by other's using this form of construction. The working relationship & communication between Builder and Design Professional is crucial in delivering a Client's desired outcome in the Custom Design Market no matter what the Budget Range. In this Project, John has been professional to deal with, paid attention to the detail & maintains a high standard and importantly, this transfers to Contractor's On-Site. John is also readily available by phone or on-site to discuss design or construction element's or variation's to same as construction proceeds. Due to the positive working relationship, I am collaborating on further project's with this Builder and as such, can highly recommend to other design professional's and those that are looking to build an energy efficient, alternative construction home. Everyone i speak to has a story of what went wrong at there home. Plenty also talk about what they had to do and how long they had to wait for building to come back and look at problem. John Rocca was onto any issue we had immediately and sorted out professionally no questions asked. To me back up support is Gold and John is concerned about his reputation not his pocket. I am very happy with my new home built by Bellissimo Homes. Their building skills are excellent and I would use them again. My house built of SIPS is perfect for Australia. I was concerned that there was no connection for my gas heater when I moved in, but despite a cool winter I didn't even need heating. The house is designed well (to my basic design) and the sun coming in the large north facing window heated up the concrete floor and radiated warmth all night. My washing dried on the clothes horse overnight! Now that it is Summer, the eves block out a large part of the heat and curtains and a shade sail downstairs does the rest. It is lovely and cool. I do have plans to install a aircon system, but I can see that once the house is cooled down the insulation provided by the SIPS walls will keep the house cool and I can turn off the aircon. We lived in the house at the front of the block and I always hated the cold bathroom, so we installed heated towel rails and heat lights in the new house. The house is so warm in winter and especially upstairs in the bathroom, that the towels dry so quickly between users. There are few windows on the east or west to let in the hot sun and windows that can be opened on the north and south to let the cool breezes in. I can really recommend SIPS and Bellissimo Builders for a very climate effective house.

We are more than half way through our build and so far we are very happy with Bellissimo Homes. High quality buildings at an affordable price. Also impressed with the SIPs technology and looking forward to reduced engery bills. The architect really understood our brief and we are so pleased with the home design. Also impressed with the speed of the build, slab was down only 5 weeks ago and Bellissimo has nearly completed second floor walls.
