She worked with me to get a feel for what I like then helped me put it together so it fit well. Also, I had an awkward shaped room and could only see one scenario for my furniture, but she made a layout that completely changed the feel of the room. “Jean Atkins has great taste, saved me a tremendous amount of time updating my house, was easy to work with (pleasant, reliable, knowledgeable, timely), and saved me money with her designer-status discounts. I've been happy with everything she helped me update, and have gotten many compliments from guests to my home. I hired her by the hour to tour every room of my house and offer advice. She's so knowledgeable about everything that I felt very confident in her suggestions. And I love that she is NOT pushy trying to force her ideas on you. She offers choices and wants you to like what you choose since, as she says, it is your home. She left it up to me about how much of the shopping & selection work I wanted to do; she was happy to help but not pushy to do work for me if I wanted to do it myself. For paint, wallpaper, flooring, counter tops, etc I asked her to narrow the choices down to 3-4 so I didn't have to spend so much time making selections or being overwhelmed with choices. She brought the samples to my house; easy as pie. One time I went to a showroom to choose carpet with her. It was up to me how much or little I was involved. She always knew the best places (for quality and price) for me to make my purchases. Often I was able to get discounts because she was my designer. For things I wanted to shop on my own, she knew all the best stores to send me to for the item in question from lamps to table cloths to throw pillows. She gave me names of people to lay flooring or countertops or custom curtains or even to refinish the bath tub etc so I didn't have to find my own specialists. That was really helpful since I didn't know who to contact for any of those services. I was happy with each person she recommended. Since I worked at my own pace (which is slow), I used her off and on for over a 2-year period. I remember her mentioning several designer conferences and events that she would attend so I know she keeps herself current on all the latest and greatest.”

From classic looks to modern renos, Lisa is so good. Lisa has done projects big and small for me--from helping me pick out towel racks to demo-ing and redoing a master bath. She's also provided suggestions and ideas for outdoor spaces. She also gives me fashion advice when she tries to get me out of my rut of khaki pants and flipflops, but that's a story for another day.”
