About Us

Ryan is an award winning Landscape Designer, fully qualified in Sustainable Landscape Design, and Horticulture. With over 25 years experience in the industry, Uncommon Ground creates living, usable landscapes without compromising the future. We specialise in full-scale, front and back landscapes, edible landscapes and indigenous gardens. the goal is to transform your garden with a minimal impact on the environment, minimal waste and working with nature, not against her. All the materials are sourced locally and plant choices reflect the conditions & location of the landscape. I offer a full design service from concept to detailed working drawings(CAD). I can project manage any sized job from concept through to completion.

Ryan is a passionate and professional horticulturalist who utilised outstanding skill and precision in designing a sustainable garden around my family home. Not only did Ryan recommend eco-friendly plants and watering systems, but he and his team planted and installed them in a timely and efficient manner. Ryan and his team blew me away with their ability to turn creative ideas into real life concepts, leaving me thoroughly impressed with the end result. Ryan’s team also showed particular care to the environment as they left my yard clean and tidy once they finished.

Ryan came with high qualifications & experience working as a carpenter and as a Nurseryman. He had good knowledge of sustainable plants. His great design skills and meticulous construction created a timber structure to house a feature light and a timber garden bed in which he planted camelias and border plants to provide a magnificent display at the entrance to our home.
