“Artistic Landscape Design is a family owned business operating for more than 50 years. I had the opportunity to work with one of their landscape architects in a review of my landscaping requirements. I was able to have them transform my yard from rough patch of grass up to the pool, into a professional hardscaped and landscaped home. The work was divided into three major efforts over a series of years. It has made my home backyard an extension of our living space, and our front yard a welcoming garden with the grass replaced by flora. All the scheduled work was completed on time with great attention to detail. Upon review of the area near the pool to have an interlocking patio, it was determined that there would be too much rain and snow to allow proper drainage. At that time, onsite on the first day, a decision was made to install a French drain 4’ x 4’ x6’, connected 12 feet from the downspout. The work was professionally completed without impacting the schedule, and at no additional cost to my estimate. There was never any hesitation to work the design over several years, as I was always able to work with the same landscape architect. I never had to worry about permits, schedule, or damage to my property. In fact with the third effort, another patio and bed at the end of the pool, the company put down plywood across my driveway and existing patio to ensure the small frame equipment would not do any damage. Not only does the company do professional design, their landscape centre has a massive perennial garden, and the teams working at the sites are not seasonal workers.”

“We have a side yard, rather than a back yard, and wanted a sitting area that offered privacy from the street. We were totally lost in how to achieve this. When we approached John Duthie several years ago with our "wish list", he came back with a design that was unique to our property - a great plan that we would never have thought of on our own. John was willing to work within our budget constraints by completing the total property design over a 3 year period. The work included a large side patio area which then continued around to the area behind our house. We then had an large accent trellis placed in the front yard to continue the theme John had created and built. John was willing to use existing large shrubs and plantings wherever possible, which also helped our budget. “This is actually the 2nd project that I have hired Luc's team for, I am more than impressed by their work and professionalism. After mulitple conversations to determine the look and feel that I was heading for, Luc presented me with complete drawings, and samples of materials he would consider. He approaches the project with ideals of perfection. After consultation and a number of adjustments we were set to go! Landscaping is an art, however doing it so that it "lasts" requires engineering brilliance. Laying the proper forms, stone dust etc I have learned is more important than what goes on top! While the home had great bones, the original owner intended the house for a fast sale and therefore put little to no effort into the landscaping. This requred re excavating and working gently around existing structures such as swimming pools, septic beds/tanks etc. All stone work was completed just as the snow began to fly last December. We could barely wait to get plantings and final structures in place once spring finally came, The team was back as promised and the project continued. Steve the horticulture "expert" came frequently to our home to oversee his workers but was often caught with pruning sheers in hand, clipping and shaping, showing his complete devotion for his business and his perfectionism. We sit out every evening, rain or shine, enjoying the sound of the sheer decent fountain, the breath taking arbour, the logia with kitchen, the courtyard with wall fountain, and as the sun sets the beautiful lighting that plays shadows on the towering maples and newly planted bushes, grasses and other perennials. While some of the plantings are quite immature, I can easily imagine them in their full glory, I will happily provide pictures!!”
