“Total Pool and Spa designed and built our free-form pool. They developed a clearly depicted design which we co-created and executed it beautifully. The project came in at budget and within the time frame which they had indicated. The job was quite intricate and required Total Pool & Spa to draw on additional resources such as for the landscape design, stone work, and construction of the pool house. In all cases these trade people were extremely proficient and very professional. The total effect of the pool makes it appear as if you came upon a hot spring. It begins as a stream, then feeds into the hot tub, which in effect fills up and spills over in a waterfall into the pool itself. Total Pool incorporated an island, a bridge, (which has water breaking over it) and the free-formed pool itself. Total Pool and Spa did an absolutely outstanding job! Total Pool also performs the maintenance on the pool. They are dedicated to keeping it beautiful and are extremely responsive to any problems that occur. From May through October, my family lives at the pool. We’ve since added other elements such as a beautiful stone island to provide cooking space and a flat screen TV. It really is our sanctuary! “Jim Dobson runs an awesome, hard working, amazingly fast and professional crew. The pool was installed in a very short period of time (less than 10 days). The entire crew was respectful, all gentlemen, especially important for a single woman acting as her own GC and construction manager. It's an 18x42, 33,000 gallon in ground salt water gunnite pool, finished in medium gray and capped with thermal bluestone, as well as bluestone tile inside capping the gunnite. Dobson's prices are MUCH lower than others in the area, he's been doing pools for about 40 years, however quality and craftsmanship were not compromised. These guys know pools. I chose to spend a bit extra and have the pool filled with spring water from a capped mountain spring the area since I didn't want tap/chlorine/flouride. I also own a Himalayan salt company, so used 800 lbs of pink fine grain to get the pool set up - it's been a therapeutic necessity, given that my construction project has gone on for 9 months!! Dobson was very helpful in educating me on the salt water pool equipment, etc, and since this is my first pool and I've put a lot into it, it was important for me to be educated on the proper way to care for the gunnite, keeping the water pristine etc. Five Full Stars. “A-1 Pools & Spas installed our in ground pool and above ground spa plus put in our beautiful decorative aluminum fence in Oxford, CT. They did a phenomenal job with it all and made it like a resort, which we used and loved hosting pool parties at! They were trustworthy in performing and doing what they promised and everything turned out wonderful! They also did our pool maintenance and opened and closed our pool every April in time for the kids to use it during spring break and in November after the snow started falling. Go with A-1 because they know what they are doing and are wonderful to work with.”

“We extended our property by 30 feet and installed an in- ground vinyl pool. We also installed a 2 tiered patio area with a hot tub and lavish landscaping. We loved working with Nick at Lang Pool as he was honest, hands on, and was always in contact with us answering any questions we had or addressing any concerns. Working with Lang Pool was like "one stop shopping". They demoed our old deck, excavated the pool area, built up the extended property, built the pool, installed the patios, and hooked us up with an excellent electrician, and landscape and fencing contractor. They even replaced the clapboard where our old deck was. This made the project a lot easier as we did not have to look for people on our own to handle those aspects of the project. All in all we were VERY pleased with the work, professionalism and the outcome while working with Nick and Lang Pool.”

“Sunfox Campground in Lisbon CT was seeking to install a heated, zero-depth beach entry pool with an L shaped design, as well as a whirlpool spa. Although I knew many "residential" pool installers, none were able to handle our "commercial" installation...and only some really big companies were willing to provide a quote. Luckily, we came across Dennis and Custom Construction Designs. After a 5 minute conversation, I knew we had found our pool professional, as he understood all the intricacies of our plan. Despite being delayed by some zoning issues, Dennis was ready to start as soon as all permits were in place, and the estimated construction time was very accurate (which was 7-8 weeks for our project). It is rare to find your pool contact person is on the job site so frequently with his crew. We got to know his staff, and they were always willing to help tweak plans as the installation progressed. He also allows you to determine which components of your pool plan should be handled by his company, or by any preferred contractors you might have (in terms of landscaping, deck options etc). We chose a gunite pool and a stamped concrete deck, and he offered a few options for deck and fence companies. We discussed all potential upgrades, from filter systems to lighting and pool surfacing, and he was up front about any added costs of those options. Whenever I woke up in the middle of the night with some unfounded concern, he always responded to my early calls or texts. He is familiar with all aspects of the pool industry, and knows where to get answers for any questions that may be unique. Take your time when selecting your pool installer, as any salesperson can sell you a pool...but will they be the one you call if you have any questions? We strongly recommend Dennis Sullivan and Custom Construction Designs for any pool installation or upgrade.”

“Great company to work with. We are new to the pool industry and were very nervous about being taken advantage of spending all of this money. They were on time very thorough and produced a spectacular product. My only advice is make sure you are very educated in pool systems and how they work. Also make sure you have everything in your orginal budget that you want or you will be dissapointed when you need to add.”
