nothing worse than a leaking roof...first clean all the gutters and downpipes on the verandah and the house,check the space where the verandah attaches to the house is also clean (especially if the verandah roof is under the original eaves) make sure that all the places where there's a join in the gutters and downpipes are properly sealed, replace any missing roof screws with their attached rubber washers, make sure there's no gaps in the flashing and if you think the slope on the verandah roof is too shallow, consider replacing the verandah roofing (corrugated iron??) with a square profile sheeting that is more effective at lower angles ...there could also be a break in a tile or ridge capping where the rain is running down the inside of the roof and leaking inside the ceiling so the old tile roof needs to be checked and repointed ..a gutter cleaner and a roofing contractor and a plumber can do all this for you...not especially cheap but very worthwhile and hope you have a leak free new year.

Here's a close up shot. 100% just concrete because we had to hammer a hole out for the gate post. Didn't see any reo, so not sure if there even is any. Seem to have held up quite well though, no cracks or movement. Definitely thinking of future cracks if using a rigid overlay, however, would be great if there is a flexible option.

Are your floors a concrete slab or timber ? My previous home had a similar problem, but was on a concrete slab, And we had wall damage in the hall. A company like Megasealed will come and fix this in a day. They will remove the existing tiles, re water proof, and relay tiles. And also regrout the entire shower recess. If the paint in the hall is not bubbling, then you may be correct that the damage is in the floor, not the walls. And since you have not used the shower recess for a time, then it is the ideal time to get a professional in to redo the shower base. With reference to removing the hob, this may be making the job an expensive full renovation. As the hob would be built up from the floor, the tiles would not be underneath, therefore you would be having to take up that hob to the concrete/timber base, then the domino reaction may take into effect. New floor tiles, new levelling of floor etc etc.

Even when not in use, a creek bed is a beautiful landscaping feature that looks good and can also be accented with cute plants. Install a dry well: A dry well is simply a well that is installed underground and acts as a collection point for water. The dry well works to slowly distribute the water underground into the surrounding soil. This is a great solution for managing large amounts of water. Adding Underground Hydraulic Drainage Pipes: First, determine where water tends to collect in the garden, and from there install drains and PVC hydraulic pipes or hoses to divert water from the house and garden. Some hot spots of water accumulation are under downspouts and in the lower parts of your yard. Bury a long drain pipe that directs the water and install drains directly in the lawn or under downspouts near the house to effectively remove water and prevent soaking.
