Flooring Design Dilemma Living Room

Queenslander original floors, colour

hello, hoping for advice on how to proceed with these floors.

I’m not sure if I like the design and/or orange tone that comes through as I don’t think its a good match for the walls. It has been finished with Loba satin finish. Wondering if it would be possible to whiten it at this stage to remove the brassiness? Or any other thoughts on design or colour would be appreciated.

I’ve included a before and after photo.

They would need to be sanded back and then recoated with an appropriate finish. But I like them and they will be less noticeable with furniture and rugs.

Wow what a feature. Agree to change the colour would require sanding back and then using a white tint. They are very striking so with good furniture and rugs choices they’ll be a feature and not as “in your face”.

Thanks Annabel. The transformation on this house was dramatic. The original house was not kept in the best of conditions, so once we got in there, we basically created a whole new house... based on guestimated measurements my initial suggestion include the ens wiw and pantry space with a hallway (deep enough for bookshelves and/or desk) and wide enough to allow for the big pantry and more privacy between bathroom and public areas and these new dividing walls could have open fretwork above door height to maintain ventilation and avoid spoiling the existing ceilings..the new front entry would need stairs to be rearranged but more info is needed to be more specificanother option would be to rearrange the back stairs for better access and also allow the old dining area to be the new kitchen opening directly onto the deck and have the pantry in the old kitchen??

The only way to lighter a dark timber like that is to re sand & bleach it before coating.
There is a bleaching product called litin it. It’s a great product that really lightens the ftimber and hi lights the grain.
It’s would about double the normal sanding process to include this.

I think the floor looks stunning as does the moldings on the walls, ceiling and picture rail features. Wonderful to see such details retained and honoured. Good one enjoy, Margot
