Cheapest thing to do would be to paint the doors put a bit of timber benchtop from Bunnings and perhaps mirror the back panel, but where's the Bar Fridge going or are you planning a bigger fridge nest to this. As Louie suggested it might be better to get rid of the old as there's no place for a much needed Bar Fridge, A Barn door of whatever style suits you would work well, you can pick up second hand doors with character for this. Then again some Bunnings timber benchtop , (Mel) fitted & supported by beams screwed into the rear and sides of the nook and hidden by a strip across the front as your bench top. With a bar fridge under this, floating shelves above on the wall for bottles /glasses and DVD player etc, much easier to use the DVD when it's not in a cupboard love the room.

Will the desk fit on the wall next to the shelf unit or are you are you restricted to the L shape for some reason? Could it work opposite the window & in the other corner better & the piano where white shelf is? If you can get all the measurements including for the new lounge & try taping the floor out to check that the configuration works. Otherwise as you say having the new lounge along that back wall means having the tv where piano is but could work, depending on the view from the dining room. Pictures on the bare walls & a rug will soften what seems harsh at the moment but as you are not sure yet it is hard to say... I have always moved things around many times until it felt right. I feel your pain & hope I have not confused things for you :/

I really like the idea of concealing the screen. TV's, when off, leave a black hole in the wall to me. I don't watch or own a TV though, so I guess they'll always stand out to me. I also like how concealing a TV "repurposes" the space. It's no longer the focus of seating arrangements. I really like the sliding art panel and wouldn't it be great if it automatically slides over once the TV is switched off!

I do not know of them but simply giving them a call or email is a great start and ask some questions like the style they think suits best in your area. In regards to prices Melbourne is one of the cheapest states to have furnished with QLD and NSW coming in at the most expensive. As a really rough guide a 2 bed starts at $2400, 3 bed starts at $3000, 4 bed starts at $4000 and so on with each additional living area styled at $800 and out door is usually complimentary.
