I am with you Zara - I think it could definitely be a contender for ugliest fibro ever. I think I prefer the neighbour's house. Why would someone choose to place the bathroom at the front like that? And the front door opening off a gloomy single carport - definitely a mid-century modern touch. My suggestion would be to build a modest addition that would draw the eye away from the boxy elevation - possibly convert that carport to a decked outdoor entertaining area and open the wall next to the front door into the living room (guessing that is the floor plan). Or push something up through the roof, maybe a clerestory window to capture light and air - this would give the building a bit of vertical energy. Then paint the original fibro monument, as fulton & salomon suggested. Or matt black. Very dark colours will make the building look more substantial and work well with the texture of the fibro panels. I saw a very impressive building in North Fremantle once - three storeys + roof garden with a big concrete curved panel falling over the front like a waterfall. It wasn't until the owner/builder pointed it out that I realised that the ground floor was actually a single storey salmon-brick 70's house. The roof had been removed and the upper floors cantilevered over the original walls which had been painted black. The original building just disappeared. Lately I have been fantasising about doing something similar with a fibro beach shack like yours - flying a lightweight, open-plan structure with strong geometric form over the top but keeping the core of the shack for bedrooms, laundry etc.

The 2 brick photos still look slightly different to me , but thats not overly important . Most of the fence is very basic , and not looked after . The front fence is 'sort of' artistic , but I don't think even that is well done . And then there are those panels 'stacked' 3 high further back , where they can't be seen . Oh , and the letterbox is really basic . In fact , the whole place looks like what I call a 'rental' -- lacking a bit of love . Do you know if those bricks ( either colour haha ) are readily available in your area ? Cause here's my suggestion -- if the budget stretches , and the neighbours agree , do the side fences with brick posts , and brick up to 500-600cm , maybe even a metre further back , with a single panel above . The front fence -- brick posts , and panels similar to present , but you'd need 1 less panel wide as there would be 'those' brick poles in between each panel , and of course do a slightly taller 'post' with a letterbox ( probably using the same brick , with a stainless steel letter slot and numbers -- or maybe keep it low ? ) . That would add a heap more reference to the house , the bricks , the carport , and the panels . Presumably its more $$$ than you intended , from your painting comments , but it would add a lot IMO . Just a thought . . . . . . . . . . .

The most interesting thing is the driveway ! The roof is quite pleasant too , and the maroony red tiles ( and the screen door ) at the front door aren't too bad either . Everyone is different , but here's what I would do . Leave the drive , demolish the Olympic winners steps -- ooops , I meant the letterbox sorry . There looks to be a 'natural' line around the bricks , in line with the top of the steps ? Basically , I'd do every brick from there down in the same charcoal as your roof . And continue through by doing the window sills the same . That will lower the look . Do the screen door and garage door the same . While you are there , do the side fences 'the same' charcoal , I can't work out if the fences are render , colourbond , timber , all 3 ? You can get paint or stain to suit , anyway . Everyone else has dismissed the white picket fence , but I'd do it -- with a variation . I'd do brick columns around 800 tall ( any brick will do , as long as it looks the smae size and shape as your house bricks ) , except for one with a built-in letterbox that would be a bit over 1 metre tall . These columns would be say 1.8 metres apart ( so around about 8 across your front edge ) , and painted the same grey as your house . And no surprise -- between these columns , set back around 100mm ( not flush across the front ) you run 2 100mm x 100mm white beams between each , with your white pickets nailed to them . Your street number in a large brass or stainless number on the letterbox , and it all looks planned . And then , you can do your gardens , stepping stones , water feature , whatever takes your fancy -- personally , I'd do something with colour ( green plants , red leaved plants , yellow grasses , an orange gloss large pot , etc ) , but thats up to you .
