Never been a fan of matching lighting exactly, but instead suggest coordinating the pendants with your current fixture. You don't have to stick to ball-shaped either and can maybe go with a tubular shape. If you're hubby is stuck on chrome, maybe a chrome tube would work... if you want more glass, we also carry a line of pendant lighting and I'm sure you'll find something to go with it or atleast give you an idea.

No cheaper, at this stage. You save in one part spend more on others. They are quite narrow as well which can make rooms tight. Good design would be essential initially to make the most of the narrow spaces. Fit out is an issue as they need framing inside and insulating to comply with building codes which makes them even narrower, even having two together is ok but they then need the openings cut, joined probably by welding then finishing off. Steelwork is a lot more difficult to work with than timber from drilling or cutting a hole to sticking it together. Unless you're a boilermaker or have other metal trades up your sleeve..... As time goes on more and more will be used as housing so a builder will then know whats required. In the meantime, they and the trades would bump up estimates to cover the unknown drama's. Council may or may not look upon the dwellings favourably either..... Australia's construction codes and planning laws are in many cases quite stringent when compared to overseas (some, not all...). Almost everything we do has an Australian Standard attached to it and these must be identified before construction. As container houses are relatively 'new' the council may require professional clarification on the methods used through the works such as complete construction drawings and documentation. These aren't usually needed in full detail on bog standard housing projects.

Always worth checking, the builder quote could cover a few more things then just a grate it could include tilers extra fees for a shower base most tilers charge extra for a stepless shower base and it could cover screeding to form the fall in the shower base as well as the grate it self. Communication is the best cause of action here when my clients have a question I work at resolving any questions/concerns they would have, The builder should explain the cost to be clear you don`t want to feel like you are being taken for a ride the whole process should be open to communication this is key in all Renos & Builds

I would prefer to see both ceilings matched with shiplap, to help tie the space, we all tend to look up. This would also mean that the wall between both rooms can be removed and therefore make the room appear bigger, as the height of the ceilings in each room will make them appear smaller if the wall isn't removed
