Option 1. I wouldn't give up a 4 bedroom house with euro laundry to have a 3 bedroom house with a big laundry. I am doing something similar. We are giving up our laundry room for a staircase up to another level. We will loose the laundry entirely so it will be incorporated into the main bathroom in well designed cabinetry, actually making our bathroom much bigger, as the area under the new stairs will become part of the bathroom floor space. I don't use my laundry enough to justify having it take up valuable floor room. As long as you have a place for your mops brooms vacuum and linen and towels as well though. You pretty much need a linen closet, sink and dryer and washing machine plus space for a few baskets. I never ever fold or iron in the laundry. On Pinterest you see these amazing big laundry rooms but they are probably in houses with masses of space. Work with what u have. What's the latest on your project - what did you decide in the end....?

Hi there, I think that the skylight would definitely be the way to go, if your budget runs to it. It will really lift the whole stairwell and make it much lighter and brighter. Full height frosted doors may be OK on the laundry, but I wouldn't recommend it for the bathroom as when lights are on in the room, you may be able to see more than you bargained for, from the corridor. The occupants of the house may feel comfortable with it, but any guests or visitors may not. A frosted panel at the top of the door would be as far as I'd go. Bear in mind too, that glass lets more sound through than timber, and in a situation like yours, I'd recommend a solid core door, for that reason. I hope this helps!

I personally like the idea of the laundry cupboard as long as it's well planned and must include space for dirty clothes, my kids had laundry baskets on wheels in the bedrooms and I would ask them to wheel them to the laundry on wash day. When washed and dry I would fold and return them to the basket for them to collect. I don't iron them as it's a waste of time in my family. One of the best items I have is a pull down ironing board. it can be where ever you have space for everyone to use. Dryers are easily ducted so no problems with condensation, your plumber can do this, F&P have them so can imagine others do as well. Similar to the following idea, the laundry can be installed behind sliding or folding doors to cover any mess that you might have and can include a hanging drying rack above the bench next to the window, this is great for shirts and reduces any wrinkles.

Lovely new laundry, it would be a mistake to cut/angel the bench top, leave it as it is and as already suggested have a"filler" panel the same material as the cabinets fitted up and under the bench top and across between the cabinet and wall. I'am hoping that the bench top goes to the wall which perhaps should have repaired before fitting the cupboards, but if it doesn't the tiles could cover this up
