I think a really nice patterned quilt or bedspread. Try and strike a nice balance between your mums taste and yours. Make it like a little retreat for her... Include some nice hangers in the cupboard and a spot to pop a suitcase up... Like a nice wide ottoman or a wooden slat bench. I don't know what they are actually called but I picked one up second hand and they often have them at hotels. Maybe also put up some old photos of you and your mum from when you where a kid. I've seen framed old toys too... I guess just some touches to show your mum she is welcome and honoured. I have a few bedspreads and linens I inherited from my parents and my parents in law. I always put them on the bed when the respective parent visits. A dressing table would be nice too. With her own sets of toiletries. I would include in the cupboards extra blankets, a dressing gown, slippers, some extra coats and the sorts of things that the she might forget or not want to bring every time. I think its more about the little touches. What colours would she like?

Hi dogman, by turning your euro pillows so that they are not at a point creates a more stylish look, try you could also fold your bedding to add a bit more of a luxurious look, great bedhead and I do love the branch above bed.

@Kate i like your suggestion of custom trimming a door. But how can I install so that it looks just like a wall? I did some measurements. 19” between wall and side of nightstand. 38” between wall and bed. Each nightstand is 19”, total of bed with nightstands is 106”. floor to ceiling 8’, headboard to ceiling 65”. how Wide should I make the panels? would it be a good idea to use ready made kitchen cabinet doors like ikea but I would not use handles? (As they are for frameless kitchens)? They have a simple flat white Design, inexpensive of all the cabinets I think HÄGGEBY https://www.ikea.com/ca/en/p/haeggeby-door-white-50267172/ Particleboard, Polypropylene, Foil, Melamine foil, Foil, Melamine foil and make my custom frame. I mainly want shelves.

The bedside cabinets seem to match the dresser , there are several progressions from the brown through the gold of the curtains , the mushroom of the wall and the beige of the bed , to the pink in the cover . It works . I also wondered about the uplight , and the two bedside lamps I'd try and get the same as the pillowslips or preferably the slightly darker pink of the cover . The pictures I'd have the same distance of wall showing above and below , and approx as far apart as now . Your headboard is large , Kates is lower , so you don't have the same space to 'fill' , that's why I'd go equidistant . If you are still worried about the bedside cabinets , it looks like you have 1 picture in a similarly coloured frame -- try and get a couple more ( the pics above the bed leave as they are , get more pics or prints ) in the same wooden shade , and ideally a mirror too . The more at that end of the spectrum , to compliment the pinks at the other end , the better it will look IMO .
