going by this picture me thinks your garden is more of a problem as the plants look unkept. put in more modern plants eg yukka's or agaves something with a more structured look. on your porch fill in the blank space with either a large pot with a bright flowering plant or a large metal art piece on the wall or both. lol . I can see that you cannot put framing around your windows so work on what is close by give the garden a makeover and you will see a great difference.

I agree with karenleonn and sally, but do not under any circumstances pull out the roses and replace with anything modern like a yukka. This look is so overdone and it's not that attractive. The garden does need an uplift though: perhaps the rock border could be enhanced with nicer fuller rocks, plant some sort of soft ground cover; make sure you prune the roses in winter and feed them as they should be fed (regularly). Paint the eves, frames around the windows and the porch woodwork the same colour as suggested by karenleonn.

HI Paul, When thinking Hamptons the best idea is go full on! Not expensive but start an Ideas book. This includes the front of the house. I agree the garden needs to look like a Hamptons Cottge with hedges and flowering plants. The garden needs multiple planting and layering to achieve the look. Then add exterior lantern style wall lights, and some exterior wall art in the Hamptons style near the front door. Paint the front door, railings and window frames in a colour like Blue/Grey to suit the Hamptons feel. I hope this helps. Karen
