Thanks to nickybaruch I am now considering doing the floor (which is now sanded back ready for finishing off) with white liming with a slight tint colour in it. Some say you have to be very careful when liming. Is this a problem? I would have thought it would be just like putting on a stain? Anyway doing it that way we would still see the grain of the timber floor which would be lighter than the dark cedar it was before and keeping the pine lined ceiling with the cedar coloured beams will blend in well I think with the lighter timber floor and the white walls we now have. What do you think?

Hi Houzz Friends I have finally moved into my new home and I have 2 photos. I will be sanding back my dining room suite and entertainment unit to bare wood, colour suggestions? to go with my timber look floor?? Keep it Natural or stain it in a darker colour? My Kitchen bench is a dark grey and I have 4 wooden stools in a dark brown which seem to go with flooring. Suggestions please

One step at a time. Do painting as planned then sit back and look. You might decide the fresh timber is a great complement to the grey.

You say you want stain ideas for garage door. This seems unusual, because usually garage doors are not painted, they come in a colour made in a factory. Do you just mean colours. I would suggest Dulux beige royal for render. Colorbond Evening haze for garage door. Then a cedar stain for front door. Or the front door could be any colour really. Maybe Evening haze to match garage door, or even a red front door.
