Hi Sofia I definitely think brick lay would work better on the walls in the bathroom purely because you have a 30x30 on the floor and a 30x60 on the wall. You will find the tiles could look out of place trying to stack them. It would be a different matter if they did not share 1 or more dimension. You could hang your mirror so it covered about 1/4 of the "floor tile" and 3/4 of the white above the centre of the sink. Alternatively, tiling the entire back wall with the "floor tiles". The first option may make the bathroom feel smaller if the shower takes up more than 1/3 of the back wall. Nup, a good tiling job requires a good substrate. The best tiler in the world can't make a bad substrate look clean and good. Yes I have by Precious Tiling. For my home, we first did the concrete flooring then laid the vinyl tiles. For a quality job, the substrate must be clean, flat, and very smooth. To fit tile around pipes or obstacles, cut a pattern from cardboard and then use a contour gauge or compass to transfer the pattern onto a tile.

You may be lucky & the tiles may come off easily if just laid (we just did this in our shower). Worst case when they pull them off they may damage the membrane, in which case they will need to repair it, so it is just the time of the repair & drying, before they can relay the tile. If it's important to you, get them to fix it, as long as you can accept the worst case scenario of the extra time (that is what we did, and then the membrane was fine anyway). Good luck.
