Paint colour matching

Hi,
I need some advice on colour matching.
The painter has started the interior of our renovation, he insisted on using Taubmans paint. He said the colours all match perfectly. I had chosen porters colours that I got made up by dulux for sample pots and had been using these samples for months around the house in different lights.
My problem is now that I am convinced the colours aren't matching, am I able to tell him I want him to use the brand of paint I want?
There is an obvious difference in a deeper colour called sable- but the white is ever so slightly different. The colour is called gardenia and I believe it's throwing more blue? Would taubmans base colour have more blue in it?
I don't want to be the client from hell, but this will be our 'forever' home- should I stick to my gut feeling or go with it?

we buy our own paint and our tradesman paints it on...You have every right to expect him to use the products you want but i would ask why he prefers a particular brand and insist that unless he can make sure that the colour is exactly matched he needs to change brands (or you may need to change painters) why not check directly with your local specialist paint shop to compare the colour, the differences in the brands in quality and price....if your painter has quoted on the whole job including paint he may be getting a trades discount for using his preferred paint but if you only have to pay for his labour you might pay more for your choice of paint but you will have exactly what you want

The painter I hired a couple of times to maintain our previous house also used Taubman's; he simply said it was a better paint product. He was a fastidious and excellent painter so I trusted his reasoning. But your situation is different and you have gone to a lot of trouble in comparing and selecting colours. I agree with oklouise's advice. Another thing, I believe in trusting your own gut and you need not justify your reasons to someone else. You are the customer after all. Best wishes!

Help with cladding paint colour to match bricks

Your brick is very dark, have you decided on your mortar colour? I would consider matching your cladding colour to your mortar colour if you are using a light coloured mortar. So much depends on the design and style of your home. I would probably avoid matching the brick colour as you will need a good contrast, so don't go with Monument or Domino! It is impossible to tell without knowing what your house looks like. Have you considered engaging a colour consultant as it is a big decision and there are over 4000 Dulux colours available. @siriuskey not related to this thread per se but I believe all cabinetry with the exception of timber comes with white laminate inside (unless you order custom and pay for the inside to be painted). We just had black cabinetry installed in our lounge and the back of the doors are white. I was shocked so contacted everyone I know with new kitchens in dark colours and they ALL had polyurethane cabinets with white laminate on the back of dark/coloured doors.
