This demonstrates little reduction in quality of views overlooking the sea but offers many benifits to the customers with out having to close blinds / curtains etc. The other two showing the full reflective film on a commercial shop front with views from both inside and outside as a comparison . ( please note; taking photos facing windows will often result in misleading picture quality due to any glare present , thus resulting in misleading darker looking window views than what normally results from using most tinted films .) The actual light reduction difference between these two films is approx 9% with the reflective being the darker of the two and comparable to a popular dark grey low reflective shade that's also widely popular . Any one requiring some unbiased comments regarding this subject are quite welcome to call me . Although I live in Tasmania , I do offer my services not only Australia wide but also overseas if the need arises . As to the life expectancy of these products . As these are manufactured world wide , the quality ( or lack of) plus the degree of experince and willingness of the installer to make sure they want to try an do a good job ; can make a Hugh difference to the last -ability . If so, you could consider installing multi split aircon units in the bedrooms. That way you will only need one extra outdoor unit. Or, if it’s not possible to add an extra outdoor unit, could you swap the current outdoor unit for one that would power three indoor units? One for each bedroom and one for the living area. As well as cooling they also provide the most energy efficient form of heating. If that’s not possible, ceiling fans might help. If you are renting your options are more limited. Portable air conditioners for very hot days. They’re noisy and expensive to run but they do the job in a small room like a bedroom. There are also some heat shifting systems that could also shift cold air, but they need a roof cavity, which probably won’t suit your situation. Best if luck.

There's a move away from gas to the extent that new suburbs where I live are not even being provided with gas mains. Evap cooling when we researched some time back required some windows open and I remember people complaining about that during last summer's smoke. Regardless of which systems you choose, I could not agree more with oklouise, start with good solar passive design and insulation, that's the most efficient way of reducing the reliance on and cost of heating and cooling systems.
