Exterior paint colour and landscaping design advice needed!
Comments (7)Your house is brand brand new and so yes it does look a bit stark, but don't rush to repaint! Once you have added shrubs and it has settled in it will look really lovely. Put a little money into landscaping and it will look lovely. It just needs time to settle into the landscape. Definately don't paint it grey! That is not a look that works north of sydney in my opinion! It will look grim in the qld sunshine I think. Be patient, it won't take long for new plants to grow up in QLD. What comes to mind is your house is like a bride in a white dress... its the bouquet of flowers that really make her look beautiful. Try looking at bridal magazines for some inspiration for what garden style you like. 2 approaches I would try. Tropical foliage and tropical colour with bright gingers, lipstick palms, cordylines etc.. There are plenty of species that will do fine in the subtropics. Or the second and perhaps what I would favour for myself is to create an avenue of colourful flowering trees along the driveway like jacaranda, frangipani, flame tree, or perhaps one spreading poinciana out front in the middle of the yard if there is space. If you want some real wow factor employ a landscape gardener to give you something really unique, a great feature design. Or for a simpler approach just go to the nursery and pick what you like the look of. The house will look great with any sort of garden to soften the edges....See MoreSo far....my new house :) FRONT VIEW - A bit of advice needed please..
Comments (49)Hi there, re the fence my choice would be the same colour as house with either same colour slats or your window surfmist both would look classic, definately NO timber here. Because you are on a corner block I'd be planting a hedge inside the fence with something like Murraya asap, Jim Henson could advise. I would consider Pleaching them up to where the slats start so that you could under plant with something pretty, I'd also consider adding garden lights as per attached photo. plus I would also consider putting "Eye lid" down lights on the exterior posts of the fence, this could add great street appeal for your wonderful very large house (is your whole family moving in. The garage, either same as wall colour or Monument is my choice. cheers,...See MoreAdvice needed on Exterior Paint
Comments (4)What's wrong with the current colour, I hate to say it but if you wanted to change anything paint the garage door charcoal to tie in with the steps and paint the gutters same as wall colour, already love the house colour spend your money on something else, perhaps paint the roof a soft classic grey or white. cheers...See MoreNew house colour advice needed please!
Comments (29)What a lovely house, a paint update will look really exciting! Contrary to all the colours you've chosen, I'd go instead with a warm grey (hint of taupe in it). It will always be classic, would look amazing with fresh white window frames and dark charcoal eaves (e.g. Dulux Monument). Cue my favourite colour: Dulux Dieskau. I just think there's quite a large area of uninterrupted rendered wall so I'd worry that if you go too bluish, it could look to be verging on pastel and a gingerbread house type effect. My brother painted Tranquil Retreat on his rendered Victorian and it has come up more blue than he'd thought (actually he was also considering Milton Moon). But of course, test paint a few walls sections with different aspects and check during the day from different angles (and even across the road)!! Actually there's another photo and paint colour I love that reminded me of this, I'll try and track it down....See MoreNaf_Naf
