Guest room help

This room needs a bit of TLC... i dont feel it really works together.... the mirror is ornate, bed kinda rustic, wallpaper and linen are traditional...
Do i need to do a complete makeover??.. the room is actually very small, but i need the double size bed in it, and the actual bed and bedsides are new so i can't change that!!

any suggestions??

What a fabulous bed, I think some gorgeous new bedding to compliment the bed would look stunning in either white or cream even a pale grey, your bed could handle an ornate cover and look amazing, Bed Bath and Table have some great covers, this could blend in with the wall paper, you could change your shades to lighten the look if needed, you can paint over the wallpaper for a new look if you want a complete change, that would highlight the mirror, could look gorgeous.

New white bed linen would be perfect. Table lamps need updating and a shear curtain to cover whole wall starting under the cornice would give it a luxurious feel.

Hi Sophia, You mentioned extending the wall behind the chair (planned renovation)? Would the washstand and mirror fit there? Then the chair would fit nicely in the corner where the washstand is now. Beautiful bed head!

It would be great to see the room or ideas of the style you are going for, but as a simple suggestion perhaps you could have a warm cosy throw blanket on the couch that could double as a blanket for when the sofa is transformed into a bed? some artwork or a mirror on the wall would add some character if you don't have any already and maybe suggest a candle or diffuser with a cosy/homely scent on a small side table (which doubles as a bedside also).

Hi Dreamer, Thanks so much. Really like option 1 per your suggestion, especially for privacy, and a generous wardrobe space with adjoining desk/ dressing table close to the north facing window. Think the in-laws might not move out after the first stay 😉thanks again

Further to the comments above, you could introduce some botanical decor to give the room a tranquil/welcoming feel. The potted faux plants shown below could be placed on each bedside table to add a beautiful touch of greenery. You can't kill them and they never need to be watered!
