Ideas needed for my entry hallway
Comments (3)How wide is your entrance way? Mine is 122cm and I have a 40 cm wide console table that works. An indoor plant or some sculpture each side of the table reduces the starkness of it too. Otherwise some floating shelves is good to decorate - just be warned, people (especially husbands) do have a habit of throwing keys, mail, newspapers, etc. in this area. I would not consider the darker wall, while it looks great and makes a fabulous impact statement, your bright and cheerful entry is far more liveable on a daily basis. Art to me is the best answer, search 'arranging wall art' on Houzz and you will get hundreds of ideas. You can use paintings or photos, just choose your theme and colour choice. Black and white can look stunning too and as you will see from Houzz photos an eclectic mix works as well. One idea I picked up was painting the frames in a solid colour - I project I hope to work on this year. Comments (10)Have you considered asking the landlord if they can build something for storage in this area? If they simply nailed a sheet of plywood under the first (shorter) layer of stairs it would hild things over there, and maybe made a door that closes, attached with hinges to the wall to the right it would hide what is open there. Both could be painted white to match the walls. I can't believe you are the only person that would complain about this when they are renting. It honestly wouldn't be that expensive for them to do. I actually kind of like the antique dresser. I think it feels "dominating" because of all the things on it. Maybe just clear it off and let the piece speak for itself? If you think it needs to have something on it, I think the 2 candlesticks should be all there is....See MoreNeed help with my front entrance
Comments (26)Paving paint would be a cheaper option, Modwood is expensive but there is no maintenance, you could you use just ordinary timber decking for a timber look as well but it won't be as inexpensive as paint obviously. I think paint will look cheap. If it was me and I only had a choice between painting the tiles or leaving them as is, I'd leave them as is. I'd worry that it would scratch off the tiles especially on the ends. I used to have a garage painted in grey paving paint, it was very Matt looking, not shiny and the grey looked really grubby after a while. The tiles may not be your favourite part of the porch but make the decorating items the feature or save up and get them replaced with a grey tile you love. It's a small area so it shouldn't cost the earth. Do the removal yourself which would save you some money. It would really update the front of your house....See MoreHelp! What should I put on this entry way wall?
Comments (16)Definitely requires wallpaper or paint. I would probably go a textured wallpaper like a bronze /gold weave wall paper. It will give the area deapth and frame the space to make a statement. You have the furniture and space for it. Large art or a mirror. I would possibly keep it rectangular or squarish. A rug would soften and fill the space but would have to be selected carefully to ensure no tripping hazard. Maybe something patterned (replicated through abstract & lines like the legs of your table, with a pop of colour and upgrade the vase of flowers to reflect this colour. Basis of design is replication whether it is colour, shape or pattern....See Moretalley_sue_nyc
