Hi David What you could do is pull up the carpet and screed the floor with ardit floor leveller to create a gentle and barely noticeable gradient over the doorway and into the room. This is done all the time and would simply be a matter of talking to your local carpet shop about undoing the carpet (assuming your timber installer isn't a carpet shop), laying the screed and relaying the doorways. You only need a carpet layer although it is usually done over two days to allow the floor leveller to dry. The other way is that flooring distributors supply mdf ramps that are designed for ezactly these situations and again, it is just matter of getting a carpet layer to pull up the doorway, install the ramp and relay the doorway carpet. This is a same day solution although as the ramps are only doorway deep it is slightly more noticeable. Cheers

wet room floors should be sloped to allow for drainage but mistakes happen...did you have a contract with the builder detailing what was to be included?..either way you should contact the nearest branch of the Builders Licensing Board or Fair Trading for advice and they'll probably suggest you contact the builder for repairs but take detailed photos and keep all contact in writing..my daughter recently had a similar problem and the builder was happy to come back and fully repair the work so hopefully you'll be equally successful, best of luck

Hi Bridget, to prevent serious problems with your engineered floor in later life, expansion gaps should be left around the edge of the room, wherever the floor meets a fixed object such as the walls or a doorway. This will allow engineered planks to naturally expand and contract without causing disfigurement to the overall floor. My recommendation would be to consider laying the flooring vertical ( long) towards/away from door entrance. When laying flooring in a short room, you’ll want to add a sense of depth. It will make the room look longer by installing your floor vertically.
