Bathrooms Design Dilemma

small en-suite layout

Hi,
I am currently planning my tiny en-suite. It is 1.8m x 1.8m with a sliding cavity door entrance.
There is going to be a toilet, vanity and shower.
The shower I’ve planned is 900x900mm with a swinging door. It is going to be frameless.
My dilemma is about the shower.
I’d love your advice or suggestions.
My questions are,
Is this layout going to be too tight?
Do I need to have a sliding shower screen door instead?
Do I need to choose a different shower shape, such as a rectangle instead of a square, or a corner cutoff the square. (Does that make sense?)
Any other suggestions would be very much welcome!

Here is my finished ensuite. 1.8 x 1.8 m bathroom. it works well as a layout. the shower is 900x 900mm. the vanity is about 280mm deep and the sink hangs over the edge a bit (if that makes sense!). the shower door is 550mm wide.

i havent yet had the towel rail installed but when i do it will be on the left hand side wall.

Thank Tanyaoz I like your idea for the layout. There is a window on the wall behind where you have placed the vanity so a mirror wouldn’t be able to go there. Perhaps that doesn’t matter anyway.

You could have a shower curtain rather than a door if having an open shower is not practical (which it generally isn't in a small space). Do you have cavity walls? If so a toilet with an in wall cistern will help increase the available floor space. Also, do you need a vanity or could you make do with a pedestal basin and a shaving cabinet? If you have cavity walls the shaving cabinet may be able to be recessed into the wall.

with the available space there's very limited options and likely that the existing ensuite already has a shower at one end and toilet at the other with sink in the middle..could you have storage pushed inside a wall cavity and/or is there any space available in any adjoining rooms?i

using the available space the storage walls in the wiw could be about 30cms wider than the existing biw but the ens is smaller without enough space for a vanity...moving the wall would create more wiw but the ens is still not long enough for more than a 1200 wide vanity so for all the trouble and expense of an extension (that will need council approval and fees) there isnt any real improvement on what you already have and the linen storage has also been lost...

Swapping the shower with vanity would still look good. You could have an opaque shower screen. Also with the current layout the shower recess would be reflected in the vanity mirror anyway. This would also keep the wet area on one side, bath and shower, and the dry areas on the other, toilet and vanity. The only negative is that the toilet looks private with the current layout and shower wall. Moving the vanity may make the toilet less private.

if this a renovation of an existing room can you add location of existing fixtures, windows and doors and we need to know about all the adjoining rooms with dimensions and what are the floors and walls and windows made out of??

My ensuite is the same size. My door is opposite the shower. The toilet is opposite the vanity. Vanity is 900 and shower is 820 x 900. recessed mirror cabinet.

That looks really great. I never thought the shower could be opposite the sliding door, I don’t know why, but it works quite well.

Not a post on the layout of the ensuite, but some advice based on my recent experience of a renovation. Don’t get a rectangular shower grate as they are a nightmare to clean. I suggest a round drainage outlet placed towards the back of the shower so that the water drains away effectively.

You will have to be very careful to ensure you don’t smash the shower door into the bowl.

The shower people stuck a clear silicon pad on the shower door so that it is safe.
