It depends how you live, we can't make the decision for you.
But, plan 1, I think is better. The fridge placement is better. If there are only three of you, then the laundry space is sufficient.
What size single sinks are you having? You still need big enough sinks, in width and depth, to wash trays and pots, that will not fit in the dishwasher. But I assume this will be sorted once you get to the actual kitchen appliances choosing time.

Another reason for plan 1, your prep area and cooking can be done in the kitchen area. Then the dirty dishes can be put in the scullery and hidden until you get to clean up.

Agree with points made by Dreamer although since completing my kitchen I regret not having a sink on the island as I am not facing the family as I prep dinner etc.

Yes, extending that back bench would be good. Apart from symmetry, it will give you more bench space either side of cooktop. Where is your oven going?

hi dreamer, the oven is underneath the hot plate. my sister (prefers functionality over beauty) said to position my hot plate over to the side, not centred, as it makes sense to have more uninterrupted bench space on one side . what are your thoughts?

I prefer in the middle. Depends whether you are left or right working with cook top. These are decisions you need to make.
You know how you prefer to cook, or whoever does the cooking in the your kitchen.

And if your not having a sink in the island you have all that space for things as well.

How does plan 2 get an extra 500 mm for the double sided Laundry, when the scullery in plan 1 is only one sided?

@dreamer i am so indecisive. Perhaps its because I'm so relaxed. I never even planned my wedding! My younger sister took care of it. I don't care for nutting out details. If someone just built me a house, I'd be happy. I don't know why I'm so worried about getting it all right. I've never done this before. Thank you for all your wisdom!

@dreamer, we could always switch the placement of the fridge and pantry of the other plan? If that was putting you off plan 2 🙃

ok @dreamer I think I've decided!! well you kinda helped me get there. I've read your advice and amended the design. I've taken care of symmetry aspect and chiselled from the laundry. You are right. we only have a 7 year old. Not running a military procession of washing for an army. Over the centred hotplate, do you think overhead cupboards or open or none?

Overhead cupboards would be my preference. Storage is always good.

I thought this was a renovation, therefore someone did build you a house. But you have decided to change it all.
