As far as I know it is possible for stone to be cut on site (I've seen the service advertised), but make sure you can check the previous work of whoever you get to do it. Comments (22)We have basin mounted taps in one bathroom and wall mounted in another. The taps we bought are from the same range and using them I find to have little difference. However personally if I was building again I would have the basin mounted for a single reason... if the tap needs replacing in time, then there is no need to rip a hole in the wall to do it. Either type of tap requires you to check your basin and mirror heights so there's no interference particularly if you have shaving cabinets like we did. Another thought to consider from the male perspective... our men prefer a swivel spout as mentioned from other houzzers for easy cleanup when shaving and perhaps a little extra hand room for larger hands. Comments (4)Hi Fiwi When we look at basins, regardless of the overall dimensions or type of mount we look at the depth of the bowl internally and its shape. For practicality we always choose a deep bowl with a curved bottom of some sort to allow proper drainage. Its a great look to have flat square bottoms with corners and shallow angles as you have now, but the reality is as you said that they need help to be washed out. The deep and wide bowl is better for shaving too as it keeps the rinsing within the bowl. There are plenty of great looking basins that have the above. We often use an undermount or inset basin such as these give practicality without bulk eg as below But there are also plenty of good surface mounted also. Comments (1)the problem with this combination is that unless the tap is located extra high there is difficulty doing normal handbasin things like using a glass, or scooping water to wash your face...we have a similar tap over a drop in basin ...the tap allows the water to fall into the centre of the basin but the tap is too long and too low for comfort ... raising the tap would interfere with the wall mirrors so tap will be changed to a tall counter mounted tap for easier use and we never considered a raised handbasin for all the same reasons and imo they make any but super sized vanities look so cluttered...See More
