Your kitchen sounds lovely. BUt the location does sounds pretty risky to me. But without knowing the rest of the house plans, or the size of it, I dont want to say you're doing the wrong thing.IN some ways, you are close to answering the door, if you spend much time in the kitchen (like I do) but as that anyone coming in will distract you and possibly get in the way. Not sure what you could get for this but you would have choices if you did as Fixer Upper in your style 2 Islands side by side. My island is 2.7 x1.2 seamless plywood with a shadow line cheers
