Need help choosing a central light for bedroom
Comments (19)"Matt Blatt" has some amazing lighting that is out of this world, and extremely original. But I love the ones you have and it is a bedroom sooo doesn't need much lighting. Maybe a couple of tall feature lamps in the corner of the room, soft glow lighting (opposite door side) another suggestion dimmed down lights in the roof of recessed window bay & a nice natural looking fan you can get some really trendy ones in the light wood from Beacon Lighting.... a side board under the picture with white / wood tones and I think a better art choice could be sort long oblong size so follows the line of the wooden wall feature and long window line...See MoreMaster bedroom!
Comments (7)The roller blind with sheer curtains will give a soft look and block out the light while you sleep. The floor to ceiling curtains probably won't look as nice due to your small space and the cornice so just above the window and a little wider than the window to make it look larger. The bed head either upholstered or timber needs to be light in colour so it doesn't dominate the room (the timber will be easier to clean) The design of the bedside tables depend on what you use them for but don't have too many items stored on them. The light also depends what you use it for (needs to be more direct if you use it to read). The addition of a large mirror will add the illusion of space and luxury. As you have a large bed in a smaller room just make sure the linen is not dominating the whole room. Good luck :)...See MoreCenter light in the bedroom or not?
Comments (5)Polly, lighting design/configuration will be very much influenced/determined by personal preference and functional priority. It also depends upon the overall home style, as well as the natural light quality into individual spaces. Usually, when we design spaces from scratch there is no functional requirement at all for lighting during the day, so it comes down to determining what purpose the lighting serves during the evening....which usually we find is more leaning towards mood/vibe light/ambience, rather than task lighting. Personally, I try and minimise/consolidate light fittings to balance function, vibe and style. Whatever you do I always advise to be consistent with design decisions so if you go the pendant route it would make sense that this is represented also in some other areas....last point, be mindful of ceiling height. Pendants don't look that great unless you are able to achieve a reasonable "drop". If you have a lower ceiling height in the bedroom then there are some great surface mounted options that can work well centrally, or look at some inconspicuous downlights minimised in number - whatever you do make sure you get a dimmer on the bedroom circuit..... Loads of choices/options/config and its not right/wrong - as long as you have some logical reasoning behind the decisions one way or another you'll be OK... best of luck! Cheers PD...See MoreHELP! Comments (14)Ok . Painting walls/wall darker would make it more cosy, adding a large rug under the bed and pendants above the bedside tables would be nice. Then get some beautiful bed linen that complements the rug and maybe some cushions. Wall paper is also good idea if you fancy something flamboyant....See More- last year
