Need help for living room
Comments (14)What about this as a feature wall? I could get some ply or something and paint a brown/taupe colour and attach it to the wall. As is would be such a feature the rest of the panelling will hide in the background (this would be the wall in the second picture). Paint the bottom panel white, paint the top panel a very pale taupe. Go for matchstick blinds on the windows, both starting at the same height to make the windows look even. My furniture is a white 3 seater leather lounge and three Ikea cream chairs (like rocking chairs that don't rock, not like chunky recliners. I'd place the lounge against the wall with the small window and the Ikea chairs in-front of the main window and directly opposite the feature wall. I am sorry I cant get the picture in this comment. Comments (27)Alright .... so here is another sample rug for trial ... hubby really likes these kind of patterns and thought of giving it a shot ... what do you guys think? I am thinking to take away the yellow gumball as Oskuee said ... once the rug is finalised, will get cushions .. P.S Ignore my leopard print throw! its toooo cold now .. Brrrrr... and it is quite not possible to swap positions as i would need to pull down a TV cable and also its a large L-SHAPE door behind the sofa ... i really need to change my interior lights as well ... makes the place look very dull!...See MorePlease help with living room rug, curtains, throws and cushion colours
Comments (71)Rachael, you’re very welcome! It was fun to draw up. As far as layering photos, I wasn’t suggesting you cover one photo with another, (what is the point of having beautiful photos and memories then! Lol) rather, overlap the edges of the frames (both are quite wide from your photos) so that they are connected without obscuring the images within. Hope that makes sense! What a difference just painting that back wall makes! It really opens up the room now. I think the few bricks around your fireplace now is a very charming feature. It keeps the charm of the original while bringing the rest of the room into a fresh new era! Well done! I would suggest running a long extension chord for your tv for now while you try out a new layout for the space if there are no powerpoints on the far wall, just to be sure you like the arrangement. Can’t wait to see updated images of your new space!...See MoreTwo living/family rooms?
Comments (6)Sounds vaguely like our house - original 60s layout of living at front, then kitchen and dining opening to patio at back. Two extensions in the 50 years since have added a new kitchen and sunroom at the back (including a few steps down here and there) so there are now two living areas and extra space (where old kitchen was) that we've recently converted into a study nook and bar. For previous owners the sunroom has acted as alternately an informal sitting/reading room, and a family room with TV, while original living room at the front was the 'formal' lounge without TV. We have young kids so set up the sunroom as their playroom as it opens to backyard, and front living room as a more standard living room with TV - and have hopes to add a fireplace at some point to cosy it up. I would think about what times of day each area gets the best light, and what are the activities you like doing at those times of day - then structure the rooms around that. Alternatively think about the gatherings you have with people and set one up as a more formal area (or for evenings?) and one more casual (for daytime?)....See MoreBeverlyFLADeziner
