Double Bay Apartment

This original Art Deco apartment was completely gutted and infused with new life, caramel-grey oak floors and a contemporary colour palette while still maintaining some of its former identity.

One of the most important aspects of the brief was to maximise the almost non-existent storage space in the master bedroom and adjoining sunroom that we converted into a home office / library. We custom-designed and made a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf that had both a functional and aesthetic purpose - the closed door bottom cupboards concealed behind all the technology (such as wi-fi, printers, mobile chargers, etc) while the open shelves were used to display loved books and mementos. In the master bedroom a beautifully curated open wardrobe provides immediate access and fashion inspiration.

In addition, the bathroom (though extremely narrow and small) was remodelled and adapted to modern day living through the clever use of mirrors and floor to ceiling white marble tiles. The black tile borders on the floors, the vanity and shower recess are a contemporary nod to the Art Deco era. In the recess of the former toilet, a brand new laundry was created behind custom-made floor-to-ceiling mirror-panelled doors.
