Like many homes of the 1950’s and 1960’s, our clients' home was lacking in living space, and full of walls, creating smaller less flexible living spaces. What they needed was a few more bedrooms, and just a bit more space. Space to entertain, space for the everyday comings and goings of a family of five and storage – more storage.

After working through a few different design concepts, the couple decided that their preferred solution was to open up the rear of their home, creating a new open plan kitchen, meals and living space, opening out to an entertaining deck. They also chose to extend their home upstairs, creating three additional bedrooms, a shared bathroom and kids retreat, as well as opening up the roof space for additional storage, not to mention including something on the wife's bucket list – a laundry chute !
