Grounded house
An old wooden house out in the forest near Castlemaine, Vic was in desperate need of some love. A light weight wooden structure- it rattled in the wind, and had no thermal mass so was always cold unless the heater was constantly on in Winter and extremely hot in Summer, being oriented East-West on the block. To save the budget we have ordered repairs to the middle original house and have added shading. The house is to have two new wings which will be oriented North and have large windows to get that ideal northern light. Thermal mass will be provided with polished concrete flooring and a sweet courtyard is created by the wings -giving shelter for the family to enjoy the outdoors more often.
