Patonga Creek Holiday Home
A low budget building which turned an old one room fishing shack into a riverside home bang on the tidal mudflat & mangroves typical of the mid-east coast of Australia. An assemblage of scrounged available materials combined with careful purchase of desirable materials. This home featured red iron bark recycled posts & flooring; a timber lined bathroom with vistas to the river, and a perfect solar orientation. It utilised a self contained composting toilet - critical in an area renown for its pure water & oysters. It is pure pleasure to watch cormorants herd fish up the tidal shallows shadowed by thieving pelicans. The grey gums on the escarpment behind is home to koala and sugar gliders. A wild-life permeable home where goannas fought it out under the floor for bragging rights.
