I didn't read sad, antisocial connotation into the multi-function table/cooktop. I read innovative. Perhaps we've all become so enamoured with and mislead by developers who convince us that we 'need' 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 3 living spaces and a teen or adult retreat - that we're out of touch with what many young people can afford to buy or rent - particularly here in Sydney.

Everything old is new again. Shades of my growing up reading my mom's design mags that inspired our avocado green Kitchen and her friend's orange and gold one.
And now I rip out that orange and brown stuff from our 1970's house lol.

The Art of Design
The somewhat prevalent comments of ne sayers, responding to international design trends is reflective of the cultural divide between a great number of American "sophisticates" and the forward thinking of the larger international design community. For years as a textile designer I traveled to European design venues as a means of forecasting trends, knowing that the European design sensibility was far ahead of the markets I designed for in the US. Now as a seasoned interior designer, this is the kind of pictorial essay that I crave. Like it or not, interior design is more of a fashion industry than ever before. The photos do exactly what they should do. They challenge me to think beyond my own comfort zone and to solve visual design challenges in new and exciting ways. I love seeing the emergence of warm and sensual hues and have no doubt that these interiors and their colors are loved by those who live there. The photos give me confidence to further nudge myself and my clients beyond the "comfort zone". Thank you for bringing these evolving trends to Houzz.
