DIY Project: Folded Paper Decorations
Surprise your loved ones with these small decorations that just take 15 minutes!
Christmas is at the door. If you are looking for original ideas to wrap your gifts, this small workshop is just what you’ve been looking for. Some paper folding, a touch of glue, a couple of snips, and your unique gift is done! This DIY is so simple and requires so few materials that you can do it with your children.
What you’ll need:
- Decorative paper
- Glue stick
- A pair of scissors
- A roll of kraft paper
- Some string
Step 1: Cut some strips of paper about 20-30 centimetres by 3-6 centimetres.
Step 2: Accordion-fold the paper strips into 2 or 3 centimetre panels depending on the model you like and the effect you want to achieve.
Step 3: Glue the inside panels of your accordions. Let dry.
Step 4: Draw the shape you want on one side of the accordion: a semi-circle to get balls or a line to get Christmas trees. Cut along the line with scissors to get 3D half shapes.
Step 5: Wrap your gifts with kraft paper and glue your decorations on. If you made balls, you can attach a string along the present so they look like they’re hanging.
Tip: You can also use this idea to customise your greeting cards or to create decorations for your Christmas tree by sticking two half-shapes together.
