We were commissioned to design a Classic Bespoke Shaker Home Bar for the living space of a recently extended 1920’s single storey property in Haslemere, Surrey. This was part of a home refurbishment project where we also designed the kitchen, utility room and boot room. We were recommended to the clients by Hampshire-based interior designers, Emily Steen and Danielle Marsh, founders of Wells and Maguire, with whom we have collaborated on numerous previous projects, and who created the overall interior design scheme.
While designed to look as if it is freestanding, this home bar is fully built in. It includes electrics for lighting and to power the integrated wine fridge, and it is also plumbed-in to the mains water system. Separated into two parts by a 30mm Misty Carrara Satinato quartz worktop, which is the surface material also used in the kitchen, the upper cabinet features double bi-fold fluted glass glazed doors with butt hinges that fold back fully into the right and left-hand panels.
When folded, the interior bar is revealed, with a bronze antique mirrored glass back panel and two glazed walnut-edged shelves for glasses and cocktail items. These are above a deeper central area above the worktop that includes a slim copper undermount sink by 1810, with a lever tap in a matching finish on the right-hand side. LED spotlights are embedded at the top of the walnut veneered carcase, and LED strips are at the base of each shelf to create a stylish ambiance when entertaining. Beneath the worktop are storage cabinets to one side of a central 60cm integrated wine fridge by mQuvee, with a concealed 45cm integrated dishwasher by Siemens next to a bin cabinet on the other.

All shelves are made with invisible fixing.
Massive mirror at the back is cut to eliminate any visible joints.
All shelves supplied with led lights to lit up things displayed on shelves

Design ideas for a small modern home bar in Sydney with shaker cabinets, white cabinets, marble benchtops, mirror splashback, dark hardwood floors, black floor and black benchtop.

The natural oak finish combined with the matte black handles create a fresh and contemporary finish on this bar. Antique mirror back panels adds a twist of timeless design to the piece as well. The natural oak is continued through out the house seamlessly linking each room and creating a natural flow. Modern wall paneling has also been used in the master and children’s bedroom to add extra depth to the design. Whilst back lite shelving in the master en-suite creates a more elegant and relaxing finish to the space.

The built-in bar area in this versatile space is a stunning blend of functionality and style. With Shaker cabinets painted in Little Greene's "Obsidian Green," the bar area exudes elegance and depth. Glass shelving and a mirror back panel reflect the garden views, adding a sense of openness and light to the area. The engineered copper worktop provides a warm, tactile contrast, while the brass sink and tap introduce a luxurious touch. An integrated under-counter fridge completes the setup, making this bar area perfect for storing drinks and entertaining with ease.

An amazing social space incorporating the kitchen, an island to seat 6, a liquid metal bar, wine storage and a 10 person dining table. All the furniture was over-sized to suit the scale of the room and the 3 metre high ceilings.

Our client needed extra storage for larger items such as a vacuum cleaner, but also to house a bar and wine fridge. We designed this piece to compliment our Kitchen design. The curved lines and mirrored back panel prevent the piece from feeling to oppressive.
