View of the living room from the front entry opens up to a dramatic view of the San Francisco Bay. The original eight foot ceilings were opened up with vaulting and steel beam reinforcing. Track lighting was utilized partly because of the sloped vaulted ceiling made recessed lighting difficult, and there was insufficient void space in the ceiling for recessed lighting equipment.

Cross cut travertine tiles give this gas fireplace an unusual look that pops off the dark walls. The ottomans tuck under the coffee table but can be pulled out for additional seating or foot rests.
Neighbors Home Remodeling

The homeowners recently married and adopted three young sisters from South Georgia. They kept all three sisters together so they could grow up as a family. The need for more space was obvious. They desperately needed more room for the new family so they contracted with Neighbors Home to construct a two story addition, which included a huge updated kitchen, a sitting room with a see through fireplace, a playroom for the girls, another bedroom and a workshop for dad. We took out the back wall of the house, installed engineered beams and converted the old kitchen into the dining room. The project also included an amazing covered porch and grill deck.
We replaced all of the windows on the house with Pella Windows and updated all of the siding to James Hardie siding.

The living room is home to a custom, blush-velvet Chesterfield sofa and pale-pink silk drapes. The clear, waterfall coffee table was selected to keep the space open, while the Moroccan storage ottomans were used to store toys and provide additional seating.

Jane Ellison
Living Room-Sophisticated Salon
The living room has been transformed into a Sophisticated Salon suited to reading and reflection, intimate dinners and cocktail parties. A seductive suede daybed and tailored silk and denim drapery panels usher in the new age of elegance
Jane extended the visual height of the French Doors in the living room by topping them with half-round mirrors. A large rose-color ottoman radiates warmth
The furnishings used for this living room include a daybed, upholstered chairs, a sleek banquette with dining table, a bench, ceramic stools and an upholstered ottoman ... but no sofa anywhere. The designer wrote in her description that the living room has been transformed into a "sophisticated salon suited to reading and reflection, intimate dinners and cocktail parties." I'm a big fan of furnishing a room to support the way you want to live in it.
