A dry stream bed was designed and installed to assist with drainage for the front of the property. A quaint white picket fence defines the space, and separates the new apple and pear orchard from the rest of the front yard. The lawn and gravel paths are edged with steel, to define the spaces and to contain the gravel from the bark mulch flower beds and the lawn. The plantings along the driveway and orchard include: Japanese Holly (Ilex crenata 'Convexa'), Gulf Stream Heavenly Bamboo (Nandina domestica 'Gulf Stream'), Flaming Silver Andromeda (Pieris japonica 'Flaming Silver'), and spirea.
