Working with the clients from the early stages, we were able to create the exact contemporary seaside home that they dreamt up after a recent stay in a luxurious escape in New Zealand. Slate cladding and granite floor tiles are used both externally and internally to create continuous flow to the garden and upper terraces. A minimal but comfortable feel was achieved using a palette of cool greys with accents of lime green and dusky orange echoeing the colours within the planting and evening skies.

FAMILY HOME IN SURREY
The architectural remodelling, fitting out and decoration of a lovely semi-detached Edwardian house in Weybridge, Surrey.
We were approached by an ambitious couple who’d recently sold up and moved out of London in pursuit of a slower-paced life in Surrey. They had just bought this house and already had grand visions of transforming it into a spacious, classy family home.
Architecturally, the existing house needed a complete rethink. It had lots of poky rooms with a small galley kitchen, all connected by a narrow corridor – the typical layout of a semi-detached property of its era; dated and unsuitable for modern life.
MODERNIST INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE
Our plan was to remove all of the internal walls – to relocate the central stairwell and to extend out at the back to create one giant open-plan living space!
To maximise the impact of this on entering the house, we wanted to create an uninterrupted view from the front door, all the way to the end of the garden.
Working closely with the architect, structural engineer, LPA and Building Control, we produced the technical drawings required for planning and tendering and managed both of these stages of the project.
QUIRKY DESIGN FEATURES
At our clients’ request, we incorporated a contemporary wall mounted wood burning stove in the dining area of the house, with external flue and dedicated log store.
The staircase was an unusually simple design, with feature LED lighting, designed and built as a real labour of love (not forgetting the secret cloak room inside!)
The hallway cupboards were designed with asymmetrical niches painted in different colours, backlit with LED strips as a central feature of the house.
The side wall of the kitchen is broken up by three slot windows which create an architectural feel to the space.

This commission involved the renovation and conversion of two duplex apartments into one single residence/retreat. The two existing external stairs were removed and replaced by a single internal staircase. This intervention made it possible to create one large outdoor area and maximise the existing view. The steel canopies and wooden sun terraces act as visual links between the two original living units. In collaboration with Minimum Arquitectura.

Siller Stairs
This was a residential project where we do have execued two structural glass stairs, a cantilevered concrete stair in the exterior and some internal and external glass railings. The big glass stair in the entrace hall was very challenging because it was only one glass panel with almost 6 meter length. Also the cantilevered staircase is one of its kind with a width of 1500mm.

A powder coated grey steel staircase with an open rise and glass balustrades. The glass balustrades continues round the opening and returns towards the house. The colour of the stair was chosen to match the existing house exterior such as window and door frames. The glass around the opening is a great way to make the space feel open and let light through.

This project was initially a main floor renovation – the kitchen was old and dated and the layout was poor for entertaining.
Sounds simple enough, but it was only achieved by removing a trap door and the original external basement stairs and building a new side entrance to the lower level. From our first meeting I knew that the trap door was going to be the boss of the renovation – sometimes it’s the oddest things in a home that determine the course, size and scope of a project. We increased the size of the main floor by levelling of the back of the house; this increased the foot print in the kitchen and brought in much more natural light. Custom millwork and plaster mouldings were designed and installed in every room. Lighting was updated and new furniture and soft-furnishings were designed and sourced. On the second floor we renovated the master bedroom and the dressing room. In the basement we dug down, greatly improving the head height and formed a cozy media room and a lux laundry and mudroom.
