This is the informal den or family room of the home. Slipcovers were used on the lighter colored items to keep everything washable and easy to maintain. Coffee tables were replaced with two oversized tufted ottomans in dark gray which sit on a custom made beige and cream zebra pattern rug. The lilac and white wallpaper was carried to this room from the adjacent kitchen. Dramatic linen window treatments were hung on oversized black wood rods, giving the room height and importance.

Nearly all the furnishings, including a gorgeous rocking chaise, are vintage finds that we reupholstered and refinished; one exception is a coffee table that Jessica’s husband, architect Yianni Doulis, made from a slab of locally salvaged Eastern hard rock maple.

A sleek dining room in a Tribeca loft we designed. We wanted this space to be as unique as our clients, so we incorporated a custom dining table and Bocci globe pendant lighting. Contemporary chairs by Dennis Miller bring the design together, pairing wonderfully with the lighting and contrasting with the table.
Project completed by New York interior design firm Betty Wasserman Art & Interiors, which serves New York City, as well as across the tri-state area and in The Hamptons.

Original to the home was a beautiful stained glass window. The homeowner’s wanted to reuse it and since the laundry room had no exterior window, it was perfect. Natural light from the skylight above the back stairway filters through it and illuminates the laundry room. What was an otherwise mundane space now showcases a beautiful art piece. The room also features one of Cambria’s newest counter top colors, Parys. The rich blue and gray tones are seen again in the blue wall paint and the stainless steel sink and faucet finish. Twin Cities Closet Company provided for this small space making the most of every square inch.

This open family room is part of a larger addition to this Oak Park home, which also included a new kitchen and a second floor master suite. This project was designed and executed by award winning Normandy Designer Stephanie Bryant. The coferred ceilings and limestone fireplace surround add visual interest and elegance to this living room space. The soft blue color of the ceiling enhances the visual interest even further.

My “woman’s cave” was inspired by a desire to design a space especially for women: one exuding feminity and luxury. Unlike the proverbial “man cave,” a woman’s cave nurtures its occupant, allowing her to reenergize, recharge and relax. Sparingly sprinkled raspberry tones subtly energize the room’s cream palette to supply an invigorating aura. Plush textural fabrics throughout the space create a feast for the eyes. Significantly, the room’s furnishings reflect the feminine physique, with all upholstered pieces shaped curvaceously and feeling soft to the touch. A woman will rest in the sumptuous ivory wool Chippendale-style sofa, which pays homage to the rich English history of the mansion. Alternatively, two dear friends can enjoy the warmth of a crackling fire relaxing in the tufted wing chair and petite lounge chair. There, they can place their tea cups atop the round ottoman upholstered in a cut velvet damask fabric. Completing the feminine ambience, show-stopping silk-embroidered floral panels with spectacular hues of raspberry and citrus frame the stained glass windows of the woman’s cave.

Moving the washer/dryer out of the kitchen into their own space was not a difficult decision. Meeting all of the programmatic requirements of this new room was a little trickier. Designing enough room to be able to wash the dogs and water houseplants, as well as folding laundry in a small space was solved by providing a removable countertop. When the counter is needed, the two pieces easily slide in place and they are pulled out of the way when the water is needed. When the dogs get a shower, the handspray works best, but for the plants the swing-arm potfiller serves optimally. The client had been saving these 19th century English transferware tiles for just such a project. The mahogany countertop, antique drying rack, windows and built-ins, and exquisite tile work make this a stunning room to do your laundry.
