The cottage house plan was generally thought of as a "small" home. The word originated in England, where most cottages were officially found in rural or semi-rural areas; An old-fashioned word that combines images of a cozy, picturesque home. Cottage house plans are characterized by their personality, size, and style and offer a variety of amenities and benefits that attract homeowners to the whole spectrum. A cottage is usually a small design that reminds you of a lovely storybook memory. It is planned as a holiday house. Sometimes these cottage houses are referred to as bungalows. Cottage homes are built as summer or secondary accommodation, ideal for waterfront or mountain living. The plans for the cottage house are informal and wooden, evoking the charm of a picturesque storybook. The lovely cottage house with two bedrooms has a curtained front porch that welcomes users and tourists inside. The ornate formal living room has a unique fireplace that can accommodate everyone in the family and acquaintances. There is also open space in the cottage plan, connecting the kitchen and dining areas with the living space. A great master suite with clean flight lights, a walk-in closet, and a private deck is located behind the main floor, including a separate bathtub and shower, a spacious master bathroom with a double vanity sink, and a walk-in wardrobe. A Jack & Jill bathroom, which includes a double vanity sink, bathtub, and other basic amenities, serves another decorative bedroom and a well-appointed study room. The back of this house has a shared courtyard area with a lovely fountain. A direct access car parking garage, storage, and a mechanical room are also available. This creates opportunities to entertain and enjoy time with family and friends at home.

Effortlessly cool. The current owner's great taste and style is evident throughout this inspired, modern garden apartment. As you enter the gated grounds of the magnificent detached Victorian house, you will find allocated parking behind the property, with access available from the front and back of the apartment.
The most attractive part of this property is the spacious open-plan living area, with separate sections for the dining and kitchen spaces. Through the patio doors leads to the great-sized garden and patio area, private for this flat only. This outside space is unique compared to other similar two-bed apartments.
The place feels modern throughout, with small details such as the spotlights, frosted glass, feature fireplace and Velux windows adding to the feel of the property. You can tell that it has been interior designed to a very high specification, with underfloor heating throughout and ceiling speakers in each room.
The master bedroom has built in wardrobes and a wonderful en-suite wet room. The second bedroom is also of very good size and is immaculately presented.
Ideally situated on this prestigious residential road close to Chiswick mainline railway station, the development is a short walk from local amenities and offers easy access to the M4 and Heathrow.

Soft lines were desired in a limited space surrounded by easements, building and pool setbacks. Simple architectural curves complemented the architecture of the home. This allowed the client to have a walk around the pool and provide maximum pool surface area. The spa side dry steps allowed access to the pool steps 18" lower than the patio. The spa provides a strong visual from the family room and balancing the project the fire bowl and rainfall provides a strong visual from the arbor, grill counter, bar and master bedroom. We added a door from the master bedroom to allow access directly to the fire pit on that cold winter night. The fire bow wall provides a screen for the utility transformer and location for the rainfall. Landscaping softens the lines of the hardscape fence, and house walls. The firelight along with the low voltage lighting accent the space at night. The step lights allow for safe travel over the changes in elevation to the pool. The stone veneers match the existing grill and bar counter and the flagstone coping step treads and wall caps match existing stone kitchen patio. The concrete paving pattern was selected to match the pattern of the existing stone kitchen patio as well. The trip to the city zoning board was well worth the reward of providing everything the client wanted in a limited space. Project designed by Mike Farley. A detached Edwardian villa set over three storeys, with the master suite on the top floor, four bedrooms (one en-suite) and family bathroom on the first floor and a sitting room, snug, cloakroom, utility, hall and kitchen-diner leading to the garden on the ground level.
With their children grown up and pursuing further education, the owners of this property wanted to turn their home into a sophisticated space the whole family could enjoy.
Although generously sized, it was a typical period property with a warren of dark rooms that didn’t suit modern life. The garden was awkward to access and some rooms rarely used. As avid foodies and cooks, the family wanted an open kitchen-dining area where the could entertain their friends, with plentiful storage and a connection to the garden.
Our design team reconfigured the ground floor and added a small rear and side extension to open the space for a huge kitchen and dining area, with a bank of Crittall windows leading to the garden (redesigned by Ruth Willmott).
Ultra-marine blue became the starting point for the kitchen and ground floor design – this fresh hue extends to the garden to unite indoors and outdoors.
Bespoke cabinetry designed by HUX London provides ample storage, and on one section beautiful fluted glass panels hide a TV. The cabinetry is complemented by a spectacular book-matched marble splash-back, and timber, parquet flooring, which extends throughout the ground floor.
The open kitchen area incorporates a glamorous dining table by Marcel Wanders, which the family use every day.
Now a snug, this was the darkest room with the least going for it architecturally. A cool and cosy space was created with elegant wall-panelling, a low corner sofa, stylish wall lamps and a wood-burning stove. It’s now ¬the family’s favourite room, as they gather here for movie nights.
The formal sitting room is an elegant space where the family plays music. A sumptuous teal sofa, a hand-knotted silk and wool rug and a vibrant abstract artwork bring a fresh feel.
This teenager’s bedroom with its taupe palette, luxurious finishes and study area has a grown-up vibe, and leads to a gorgeous marble-clad en-suite bathroom.
The couple now have their own dedicated study, with a streamlined double desk and bespoke cabinetry.
In the master suite, the sloping ceilings were maximised with bespoke wardrobes by HUX London, while a calming scheme was created with soft, neutral tones and rich textures.

This Glen Ellyn homeowner came to us, frustrated with the layout and size of their current kitchen, looking for help generating ideas for how to maximize functionality within the constraints of the space. After visiting with them and seeing the home’s layout, I realized that looking at the bigger picture of how they used the entire first floor might bring us some dramatic solutions. We ended up flipping the kitchen and family room and taking down the wall separating the two creating one big open floor plan for the family to enjoy. There is still a visual separation between the rooms because of their different lengths and the overall space now relates nicely to the dining room which was also opened up to both rooms.
The new kitchen is an L-shaped space that is no longer cramped and small and is truly a cook’s dream. The fridge is on one end, a large cooktop and sink are located along the main perimeter and double ovens located at the end of the “L” complete the layout. Ample work surface along the perimeter and on the large island makes entertaining a breeze. An existing door to the patio remains, floods the room with light and provides easy access to the existing outdoor deck for entertaining and grilling.
White cabinetry with quartz countertops, Carrera marble backsplash tile and a contrasting gray island give the space a clean and modern feel. The gray pendant lights and stainless appliances bring a slight industrial feel to the space letting you know that some serious cooking will take place here.
Once we had their Dream Kitchen design completed, the homeowners decided to tackle another project at the same time. We made plans to create a master suite upstairs by combining two existing bedrooms into a larger bedroom, bathroom and walk-in closet. The existing spaces were not overly large so getting everything on the wish list into the design was a challenge. In the end, we came up with a design that works. The two bedrooms were adjoined, one wall moved back slightly to make for a slightly larger bedroom, and the remaining space was allotted to the new bathroom and a walk in closet.
The bathroom consists of a double vanity and a large shower with a barn door shower door. A skylight brings light into the space and helps make it feel larger and more open. The new walk-in closet is accessible through the bathroom, and we even managed to fit in a small entry vestibule that houses some additional storage and makes a nice transition from the hallway. A white vanity, Carrera tops and gray floor tile make for a serene space that feels just right for this home.
