A neutral office composes this wonderful office design. Blacks, whites and beige set the tone for a light, bright, and airy home office perfect for those who work for home or those who just need space to study. A custom built in serves the purpose for both function with an abundance of storage on top and below but also is aesthetically pleasing. Inspirational quotes line the walls and fill in the built in for added decor. A pop of green and the area rug from Urban Outfitters gives this space the modern bohemian vibe.

House of Five Dreams
2004, Phoenix, AZ
This 30,000 SF residence/private museum was created to serve the needs of a pair of prolific art and artifact collectors. Knowing much of their collection had been excavated, the decision was made to place exhibition space below the horizon, contained within 4-foot thick rammed earth walls. Above the gallery, a floating residential pavilion is spatially composed with translucent light.

Dark walls make this office a cozy place to work. WIndows that don't reach the ceiling look as though they do when drapery is hung at full height. Custom furniture designed by the designer.

The Cleveland Park neighborhood of Washington, D.C boasts some of the most beautiful and well maintained bungalows of the late 19th century. Residential streets are distinguished by the most significant craftsman icon, the front porch.
Porter Street Bungalow was different. The stucco walls on the right and left side elevations were the first indication of an original bungalow form. Yet the swooping roof, so characteristic of the period, was terminated at the front by a first floor enclosure that had almost no penetrations and presented an unwelcoming face. Original timber beams buried within the enclosed mass provided the
only fenestration where they nudged through. The house,
known affectionately as ‘the bunker’, was in serious need of
a significant renovation and restoration.
A young couple purchased the house over 10 years ago as
a first home. As their family grew and professional lives
matured the inadequacies of the small rooms and out of date systems had to be addressed. The program called to significantly enlarge the house with a major new rear addition. The completed house had to fulfill all of the requirements of a modern house: a reconfigured larger living room, new shared kitchen and breakfast room and large family room on the first floor and three modified bedrooms and master suite on the second floor.

The Victoria era ended more then 100 years ago, but it's design influences-deep, rich colors, wallpaper with bold patterns and velvety textures, and high-quality, detailed millwork-can still be found in the modern-day homes, such as this 7,500-square-foot beauty in Medina.
The home's entrance is fit for a king and queen. A dramatic two-story foyer opens up to 10-foot ceilings, graced by a curved staircase, a sun-filled living room that takes advantage of the views of the three-acre property, and a music room, featuring the homeowners' baby grand piano.
"Each unique room has a sense of separation, yet there's an open floor plan", explains Andy Schrader, president of Schrader & Companies, the builder behind this masterpiece.
The home features four bedrooms and five baths, including a stunning master suite with and expansive walk-in master shower-complete with exterior and interior windows and a rain showerhead suspended from the ceiling. Other luxury amenities include main- and upper level laundries, four garage stalls, an indoor sport court, a workroom for the wife (with French doors accessing a personal patio), and a vestibule opening to the husband's office, complete with ship portal.
The nucleus of this home is the kitchen, with a wall of windows overlooking a private pond, a cathedral vaulted ceiling, and a unique Romeo-and-Juliet balcony, a trademark feature of the builder.

Off-the-wall design. Perfect for small spaces, this desk attaches to the wall and makes legs seem like pointless obtrusions. Convenient cubbies underneath do away with drawers, allowing for quick stowing and access.

John Magor Photography. This Butler's Pantry became the "family drop zone" in this 1920's mission style home. Brilliant green walls and earthy brown reclaimed furniture bring the outside gardens in. The perching bird lanterns and dog themed art and accessories give it a family friendly feel. A little fun and whimsy with the chalk board paint on the basement stairwell wall and a carved wood stag head watching your every move. The closet was transformed by The Closet Factory with great storage, lucite drawer fronts and a stainless steel laminate countertop. The window treatments are a creative and brilliant final touch.

This 8400 square foot farmhouse respects the building forms, materials, and details of the earlier agricultural buildings of the Santa Ynez Valley. We used reclaimed corrugated metal on the two story water tower office. The stone used for the foundation face and the fireplaces was collected from the river which borders this 100 acre ranch. The outdoor fireplace is part of the large, wrap around porch which overlooks the surrounding fields and distant mountains.
