Screen Porch

Traditional Verandah, Raleigh

During our years of construction we have been known to tear down a perfectly good screen porch only to erect a larger, higher quality one in its place. For this project we were referred to the home of Lauren & Tony Walker by past clients to do just that; get rid of a multi-level deck that had imprisoned them from the outdoors. In preparation for this statement, I asked the Walkers to sum up the problems solved in this transformation and the following is their reply: “The fact is the deck, as it was, was unusable -- too sunny, too small and too buggy for us to have any enjoyable outdoor time. The lower level obstructed the backyard views from our walk out basement. We were also falling behind a neighborhood full of recent construction, when taking into considering amenities in a competitive market. All the new homes are being built with screened in porches, albeit tiny ones. The new porch is truly the gem of our home. It offers the structural protection of a screening and a roof, but also aesthetic value of an open space with room for both a sectional couch and table with chairs for dining. The stone accent wall brings the indoors out and provides a rustic and warm centerpiece”. I offer you to view the before and after photos of this project. We are pleased with the results; the satisfaction of our client and the accomplishment of the problems solved.
