Small traditional 3/4 bathroom in Charleston with blue walls, marble floors, recessed-panel cabinets, white cabinets, an alcove shower, a two-piece toilet, white tile, subway tile, an undermount sink, marble benchtops, grey floor, grey benchtops and a hinged shower door.

This precision remodel extracted the tub and replaced it with an alcove walk-in shower with tile in linear drain and long horizontal niche. Maintaining a wall spout offers flexibility for all uses. The back wall and shower floor tile extends into the whole bathroom space which was the only element changed outside of the shower. Careful demo preserved the existing paint treatment on the walls as requested by the homeowner. The glossy black subway tile on either end of the new shower balances the existing black counter and toilet on the opposite side of the room. Linen-textured 12x24 tile completes the shower and flooring. Richards & Sterling tile in the niche pulls together the mixed metals in the space and adds a great feature . Three different carefully selected Schluter edges finishes off the tile perfectly. A single hinged glass partition door keeps the space feeling open and reflects the giant existing window.

The existing cabinetry doors were removed and new doors in Laminex 'Natural Teak' were installed. They conceal storage for cleaning products, brooms and vaccum cleaner. A new toilet with a concealed cistern was also fitted into this wall. A slmple, slimline basin and vanity was a space saving selection, which also offered storage. A laundry stack sits to the right of the basin (out of shot of the photo). Gunmetal cistern buttons and tap added extra luxury to this small space.

Our clients wanted us to expand their bathroom to add more square footage and relocate the plumbing to rearrange the flow of the bathroom. We crafted a custom built in for them in the corner for storage and stained it to match a vintage dresser they found that they wanted us to convert into a vanity. We fabricated and installed a black countertop with backsplash lip, installed a gold mirror, gold/brass fixtures, and moved lighting around in the room. We installed a new fogged glass window to create natural light in the room. The custom black shower glass was their biggest dream and accent in the bathroom, and it turned out beautifully! We added marble wall tile with black schluter all around the room! We added custom floating shelves with a delicate support bracket.

A NKBA award winner for best Powder Room. The main objective was to provide an aesthetically stunning, yet practical Powder room for their guests. In order for this tiny space to meet code clearance, I placed the vanity perpendicular to the toilet. I designed a tiny open vanity with a vessel sink and wall mounted plumbing to keep the space feeling as large as possible. The dark colors recede and provide drama and the warm wood, grout color and gold tone fixtures bring warmth to this cool palette. The tile pattern suggests trees bringing nature into the space.
