This custom built bench was designed to be warm and distinguished and welcome people into the home. It serves the function of storing winter hats and mittens and scarves. The two bottom doors fold down for access to a bin and a shelf. The three top drawers can hold gloves and mittens and so forth. The finish is an antique stain over tiger maple wood. The knobs were chosen to match the kitchen peninsula on the other side of the hallway wall. The inside is stained to match with a back also in tiger maple and ship lapped to give it a look of being well built--which it is.
