A full renovation of a dated but expansive family home, including bespoke staircase repositioning, entertainment living and bar, updated pool and spa facilities and surroundings and a repositioning and execution of a new sunken dining room to accommodate a formal sitting room.

We created this bespoke kitchen-diner within a new, rear extension for a 5-bedroom Surrey home in collaboration with interior designer, Saskia Kate Interiors. The result is a kitchen environment that feels timeless, layered, and deeply considered. Working closely with the client over a two year period, Et Lorem and Saskia Kate Interiors developed a bespoke kitchen and dining space that now forms the anchor of the home, balancing individual character with functionality designed around everyday living.  The design includes bespoke in-frame Shaker cabinetry, hand-painted in No. 164 Artillery Ground by Mylands, to present a deep green-brown shade that evokes a sense of calm and stability. When paired with Armac Martin brushed brass pull handles, the kitchen establishes a look of classic industrial met with modern luxury and comfort. Creating visual and architectural flow. At the centre of the room sits a 3-metre island, designed not only as a functional workspace, but as a social and architectural focal point within the kitchen. An upholstered bench seating area completes the dining space, creating a more intimate setting for everyday gathering. A complementary in frame Shaker sideboard with bespoke banquette seating introduces further layering and detail. Upholstered in Starboard Stripe by Mulberry Home, the woven fabric in red, cream, and indigo provides contrast and softness against the darker cabinetry tones.  Natural Taj Mahal stone worktops introduce elegant shades of white and beige marble that not only brighten the cabinetry but also add tone and texture, which is carried right through to a hidden walk-in Butler’s pantry to provide a sense of continuity throughout the wider kitchen environment. Positioned close to the cook zone, a concealed scullery sits behind a run of Et Lorem cabinetry with discreet pocket doors. When opened, it reveals a split level walk-in Butler’s pantry with matching Artillery Ground painted kitchen cabinets, Taj Mahal worktops, compact sink area, and selection of built-in laundry appliances including a climate controlled wine chiller, and wall-to-wall shelving for everyday ingredients and supplies.

The Myers Touch designed this transitional family kitchen which formed part of a substantial renovation project on a property based in Hampshire. Working in collaboration with Adam Knibb Architects to ensure design continuity, the owners briefed The Myers Touch that they wanted a contemporary family kitchen/dining space with a classic edge that would include 'a place for everything'. The design would also have to complement the rest of the home’s design scheme and make the most of the landscaped garden views to the rear of the property. The owners wanted to keep the L-Shaped kitchen shape that had been conceptionally designed by the Architect, whilst making the best use of the property's feature high ceilings. The finished design had to be practical for their family needs, yet elegant and inviting and fully accessible. The Myers Touch proposed a transitional kitchen design featuring a complimentary mix of both classic and contemporary cabinetry that would enhance the home fusions of these two styles. The design scheme was visually impactful and considered the homes environment and materials that can be seen throughout the property. The inclusion of sleek marble effect stone worktops and a traditional Black AGA helped to provide a Classic look, whilst the flat sleek SieMatic SLX cabinetry and large central island created a modern contemporary edge to link the scheme together. The period high ceilings also allowed The Myers Touch to include vital storage with attractive high level glass cabinets. Careful planning of the back L-shape wall was considered particularly in the corner. To maximise the space, The Myers Touch designed a niche to house the toaster, and smaller appliances that could be tucked away and were slightly hidden from view. On the back wall, The Myers Touch designed storage drawers to perfectly line up with the statement AGA. The use of glass and the reflective Bronze mirror also provided eye-catching elegance to the space, as the eye is drawn up to the ceiling, giving the illusion of space. The space also looks particularly inviting at night when the cabinetry lights are lit to provide a beautiful glow & warmth. The custom-made extractor was designed to sit flush between the wall units either side of the AGA and features high performance twin motors and a Zinc Clad finish to provide an element of drama and connectivity of the furniture choices. Sleek 20mm Silestone ex-gloss stone in Yukon were chosen for the worktops and a statement splashback gives a soft reflection and a warming marble effect. Continuing around the rest of the L-shaped room, the return wall displays Miele Cooking & Refrigeration Appliances that are housed in the same cabinetry that join the back run all the way to the end of the Island to fit around the architecture of the room. The kitchen furniture on these two walls use SieMatic’s SC/SE SC10 collection but Keith replaced the doors with a bespoke painted solid oak shaker style frame with stylish Buster & Punch handles in Smoked Bronze which were chosen by the client and Interior Designer. Special display items were housed in the glass display units situated high into the ceiling. For access to those, The Myers Touch designed a functional ladder rail which can be stored in a a niche space around the corner when not in use. To provide a softer and contrasting look in the room, Keith added a Dresser Unit to cover an old doorway which also acts as a transitional point between the kitchen and the dining space. For continuity the soft shaker style furniture is used at the bottom doors with open shelving that sit neatly into the dresser walls. The contemporary central Island was designed using SieMatic’s SLX Cabinetry with a modern Smoked Oak Veneer finish. The angled handle profile sits on top of the units, and underneath the worktop to provide a beautiful haptic feeling that continues all the way round to provide the illusion of the 20mm Dekton worktop 'floating together'. Since the Island's plinth is set back that also provides a similar "floating off the floor" illusion. The ease of use when preparing food and cooking, the front of the island houses the bin, sink, dishwasher and drawer storage. The other side contains storage for food mixers, freestanding baking accessories and overflow crockery. There is plenty of space to the back of the island for bar stool seating which is conveniently situated between cupboards that house oven-to table type items such as everyday crockery, place mats, condiments and napkins. The owners also requested a large Dining Table in the space, so The Myers Touch designed one using a seamless 12mm Dekton worktop in Bergen that sits on top of a custom made steel framed table support and legs that cohesively bring the kitchen, dining & entertaining scheme together. This home office provides the ultimate place to work. The stunning contemporary desk and lamp are statement making while also being very functional. With elegant wall paper and bookcases behind this is quite a contemporary library.

We were delighted to work with the homeowners of this breathtakingly beautiful luxury home in Ascot, Berkshire to create their dream kitchen. Comprising a large open plan kitchen / dining space, utility room, boot room and laundry room, the project was almost completely a blank canvas except for the kitchen the house came with which was cramped and ill-fitting for the large space. With three young children, the home needed to serve the needs of the family first but also needed to be suitable for entertaining on a reasonably large level. The kitchen features a host of cooking appliances designed with entertaining in mind including the legendary Wolf Duel fuel Range with Charbroiler with a Westin extractor. Opposite the Wolf range and integrated into the island are a Miele microwave and Miele sous chef warming drawer. The large kitchen island acts the main prep area and includes a Villeroy & Boch Double Butler Sink with insinkerator waste disposal, Perrin & Rowe Callisto Mixer Tap with rinse and a Quooker Pro Vaq 3 Classic tap finished in polished nickel. The eurocargo recycling pullout bins are located in the island with a Miele dishwasher handily located either side to ensure maximum efficiency. Choosing the iconic Sub-Zero fridge freezer for this kitchen was a super choice for this large kitchen / dining area and provides ample storage. The dining area has a Weathered Oak Refectory Table by Humphrey Munson. The table seats 10 so works really well for entertaining friends and family in the open plan kitchen / dining area. Surrounded by box files and piles of paper, our clients commissioned Burlanes to help utilise the limited space in their cosy home office. An accountant and keen arts-and-crafts hobbyist, homeowner Mrs Tate spends the majority of her time in her home office, so needed a space that was not only beautiful, but practical and with lots of storage space too. Handpainted in 'Drury Lane' by Mylands, the handmade cabinetry is designed and handmade to fit the dimensions of the room perfectly.

Design ideas for a mid-sized transitional home office in London with grey walls, light hardwood floors, a freestanding desk, beige floor and a library.

When the homeowners purchased this Victorian family home, they immediately set about planning the extension that would create a more viable space for an open plan kitchen, dining and living area. Approximately two years later their dream home is now finished. The extension was designed off the original kitchen and has a large roof lantern that sits directly above the main kitchen and soft seating area beyond. French windows open out onto the garden which is perfect for the summer months. This is truly a classic contemporary space that feels so calm and collected when you walk in – the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of modern family living. Carefully zoning the kitchen, dining and living areas was the key to the success of this project and it works perfectly. The classic Lacanche range cooker is housed in a false chimney that is designed to suit the proportion and scale of the room perfectly. The Lacanche oven is the 100cm Cluny model with two large ovens – one static and one dual function static / convection with a classic 5 burner gas hob. Finished in stainless steel with a brass trim, this classic French oven looks completely at home in this Humphrey Munson kitchen. The main prep area is on the island positioned directly in front of the main cooking run, with a prep sink handily located to the left hand side. There is seating for three at the island with a breakfast bar at the opposite end to the prep sink which is conveniently located near to the banquette dining area. Delineated from the prep area by the natural wooden worktop finished in Portobello oak (the same accent wood used throughout the kitchen), the breakfast bar is a great spot for serving drinks to friends before dinner or for the children to have their meals at breakfast time and after school. The sink run is on the other side of the L shape in this kitchen and it has open artisan shelves above for storing everyday items like glassware and tableware. Either side of the sink is an integrated Miele dishwasher and a pull out Eurocargo bin to make clearing away dishes really easy. The use of open shelving here really helps the space to feel open and calm and there is a curved countertop cupboard in the corner providing space for storing teas, coffees and biscuits so that everything is to hand when making hot drinks. The Fisher & Paykel fridge freezer has Nickleby cabinetry surrounding it with space above for storing cookbooks but there is also another under-counter fridge in the island for additional cold food storage. The cook’s pantry provides masses of storage for dry ingredients as well as housing the freestanding microwave which is always a fantastic option when you want to keep integrated appliances to a minimum in order to maximise storage space in the main kitchen. Hardware throughout this kitchen is antique brass – this is a living finish that weathers with use over time. The glass globe pendant lighting above the island was designed by us and has antique brass hardware too. The flooring is Babington limestone tumbled which has bags of character thanks to the natural fissures within the stone and creates the perfect flooring choice for this classic contemporary kitchen. Vintage glamour is re-defined in the dedicated games room- an ultra-cool Rat Pack photographic wall covering creates an alluring ambience, the monochromatic visual offset perfectly by the luxurious accents of amethyst for the furnishings and the vivacious violet baize of the bespoke snooker table. Utterly chic, the Manhattan style home bar, a Hill House bespoke, features mirrored backlit cabinetry, high gloss black lacquer comptoir and two sumptuous bar stools with intricate nailing back detail.
