Genuwine is offering the White Spiral Cellar to the North American market with three depth options: a) 6'7" (1130 bottles); b) 8'2" (1450 bottles); and c) 9'10" (1870 bottles). The diameter of the White Spiral Cellar is 7'2" (8'2" excavation diameter and approximately 5’ diameter for the full round glass door). Unlike the European Spiral Cellar that operates on a passive air exchange system, North American Spiral Cellars will be fitted with a commercial-grade climate control system to ensure a perfect environment for aging wine.

Most of the wine cellar inspiration we showcase focuses around massive rooms that hold thousands of bottles leaving the impression that scale is the most important part of making a display great. The New American Home 2021 challenges that notion. With limited space for the bar area in this Orlando, Fl., area home, Phil Kean Design Group made an impactful architectural statement with a neat, 22-bottle wine wall featuring the Vino Pins Flex wine rack. Chic. Bold. Eye-catching. And oh so gold.

Wine Cellar: Mercer Island Residence

This under-stair wine cellar presented several design challenges. Chief amongst which: how to avoid making this cramped, dark space feel like an afterthought compared to the grandeur of the rest of the home. The design team at Architectural Plastics quickly came up with a solution. A series of stepped height, clear acrylic wine racks offered maximum storage for the multi-level ceiling. We entered into our Primrose project knowing that we would be working closely with the homeowners to rethink their family’s home in a way unique to them. They definitely knew that they wanted to open up the space as much as possible. This renovation design begun in the entrance by eliminating most of the hallway wall, and replacing the stair baluster with glass to further open up the space. Not much was changed in ways of layout. The kitchen now opens up to the outdoor cooking area with bifold doors which makes for great flow when entertaining. The outdoor area has a beautiful smoker, along with the bbq and fridge. This will make for some fun summer evenings for this family while they enjoy their new pool. For the actual kitchen, our clients chose to go with Dekton for the countertops. What is Dekton? Dekton employs a high tech process which represents an accelerated version of the metamorphic change that natural stone undergoes when subjected to high temperatures and pressure over thousands of years. It is a crazy cool material to use. It is resistant to heat, fire, abrasions, scratches, stains and freezing. Because of these features, it really is the ideal material for kitchens. Above the garage, the homeowners wanted to add a more relaxed family room. This room was a basic addition, above the garage, so it didn’t change the square footage of the home, but definitely added a good amount of space. For the exterior of the home, they refreshed the paint and trimmings with new paint, and completely new landscaping for both the front and back. We added a pool to the spacious backyard, that is flanked with one side natural grass and the other, turf. As you can see, this backyard has many areas for enjoying and entertaining.

White Wine Cellar Design Ideas

When you’re an avid wine collector, wine racks don’t always cut it. A wine cellar, on the other hand, can provide ample wine storage within a controlled temperature, and a place to entertain friends. Just add seating and a tasting area to take yours to the next level. You don’t need 500 bottles or more to reap the benefits of a wine cellar, either. A small wine cooler can keep 20-odd bottles chilled to perfection and can sit within your kitchen, whereas a freestanding all-glass wine cellar could act as a feature or functional room divider in your home. Short on space? Transform an entire wall into wine storage, and showcase your collection, too. What should I include in my wine cellar?

This depends on the size of your collection – or how big you hope it becomes. If you enjoy quaffing, you may want to invest in a walk-in cooler with wall-mounted wine racks and several tall wine fridges, as well as a tasting area with bar stools. If you’re a beginner or have a small collection, a home bar with mini fridge and wine rack will suffice. Essential bar accessories include wine glasses, corkscrews, carafes and aerators.

How should I store my wine?

Temperature control is at the core of a functional wine cellar. Your bottles need to be kept out of direct sunlight, and away from the heat and steam of kitchen appliances. A room that is too warm will make your wine age faster, oxidise and lose its character and flavour. If bottles are corked, they also need to be laid down. Your architect or designer will be able to help you create the ideal conditions for your home collection.

Where should I position my wine cooler?

The most important thing to consider is ease of access, which is why kitchens are the most common place to position wine coolers. Should you have minimal floor space, a small one could even sit comfortably on your countertop. If quaffing requires an occasion or you frequently host dinner parties, consider your dining room, so you can top up people’s glasses without having to leave the room. You could also make your bar fridge or cooler a destination within your entertainment or games room. There’s no denying that Aussies love to entertain and enjoy a glass or two outdoors, so if you’re lucky enough to have a covered outdoor area, this could be just the place for a cooler, too. Just ensure it doesn’t experience any extreme weather or long periods of direct sunlight.
