Michael Bell was recommended to us by a friend who had used him to do some changes to their house and kitchen. We immediately liked Michael and the ideas he had to make our 1903 built dark Victorian home in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs into a more open plan teenage friendly space that would also be ideal for entertaining. Michael had also worked for a very well known Sydney architect whose design style we loved. The renovation took 10 months and we were surprised at just how painless it all was. You hear so many horror stories about disasters with building and renovating and ours was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We were thrilled with the outcome and still love living in our home 10 years later and hopefully for many more years to come. We could not recommend Michael and his team highly enough and feel very lucky to have not only found such a delightful architect who was always open to any changes we may have had, but someone who was also on the same page as we were.

We hired Michael to help us with the design of our shop fit-out. The design advice and supervision he provided was fantastic. His technical know-how was invaluable of course but his design ideas were brilliant. He is easy to work with and the whole experience was a positive one.

MBA were engaged for the architectural services for the renovation and additions of a 110 year old house in Lindfield. The house was to be our family home for quite some years to come. Michael's interpretation and adaption of the existing design, from a very small roomed, 3 bedroom and 1 small living room period house into a fully functioning family home of today, was impeccable. His design managed to add quite a large addition to a very heritage sensitive building in such a way that my wife and I are continually stopped by people walking passed, commenting on what a marvelous job we have done. These comments are made without people knowing how well the layout functions. Michael listened to our requirements and suggestions and developed them to a standard above our expectations. We could not have done it without Michael and his team.

From the first conversation Michael made sense of our design ideals and preferences and designed the home we are enjoying every day. We found him friendly, approachable and he has the ability to assess a builder’s dilemma providing a concise and practical solution on the spot. This was evidenced throughout the build. The renovated house fits into its setting both inside and out perfectly enhanced by Michele’s skill to interpret the feel and atmosphere we wanted to create. Michael Bell Architects were given a broad brief & that was to extend the back of a 1930's free standing house, so as to add an entertaining/living area. The results have been outstanding with what was suggested being nothing like what I had in mind but far exceeded my expectation. The result was so unique, yet liveable that it was featured in a leading home magazine. Michael asked the right questions and was not afraid to suggest some "out of the box" ideas, e.g, exposed metal beams on the outside under the eaves. He took into consideration the garden and made the room compliment the yard.

I am an Interior Decorator, who has worked with Michael Bell Architects on a few major jobs. Firstly, he is very easy to work with, understands the brief completely, and is versatile, and highly respectful of the type of house and the surroundings, whether it be a country homestead,a Paddington Terrace house or a Gracious waterfront home.. He has always been on time with his drawings, and comes up with some great concepts. His attention to detail is superb, and completely involves himself in the project.
