GREENTHINC, PLLC

Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars6 May 2021
“We had a terrific experience with Greenthinc. Jim listened to us, looked at our notes and sketches as well as our space, and really heard what we needed and wanted. We got several options that gave us choices, to make our addition the way we wanted it while fitting perfectly with our home. Jim remained available to us and our builder for questions and advice throughout project construction. He provided invaluable guidance on sustainable materials for a healthy, safe, and affordable addition. We had a true ally in Greenthinc, getting answers to questions we didn't even know we had, and translating our vision into exactly what we intended for our mom. Jim's ideas really elevated our addition, his professionalism is impeccable, and we recommend Greenthinc without reservation.”

“After purchasing lake front property in Charlotte NC, we entered into an exhaustive search to find the right architect to design our dream home. We knew what we wanted in a custom home and Tim Johnston of CL Helt Architect Inc. was able to create a design that incorporated our needs on balance with our budget. He worked with us through every phase of concept and design providing all of the renderings and models needed to fully conceptualize the scope of the project. Tim Johnston brought a strong modern esthetic that we had been seeking and an understanding of the complexities of building on waterfront property. Tim incorporated passive solar design tailored to meet the specific requirements of our exposure and latitude. Tim came up with creative solutions to accommodate the challenges of our lot and the limitations of our budget. He positioned the house to protect access to our boat ramp and take full advantage of the lake views, while designing a basement home that minimized costs and always kept in mind the practical requirements of custom home building. We have enjoyed our working relationship with Tim Johnston and the entire CL Helt Architect Inc. team. Our new home incorporates every detail that we had hoped to achieve. We would not hesitate to use their services again in the future and plan to recommend them to friends and family.”

“We worked closely with Miller Nicholson on our major home renovation. Miller was a great partner from day one until move-in day. He listened to our initial thoughts for our home, and then actualized our ideas even better than we could have imagined. In addition, Miller incorporated so many beautiful architectural details in our indoor and outdoor living spaces. He also did such a wonderful job flooding our home with beautiful, natural light. Miller facilitated our builder/bid process and then continued to work collaboratively with us and our builder until the project was complete. We were in great hands the entire time! We love our new home and are so thankful for Miller's design creativity and structural expertise as well as the passion that he brought to our project. We highly recommend Mcclure Nicholson Montgomery Architects.”

“Todd Crowe is a an artist. When we started to plan a screened-in, covered porch, patio and outdoor kitchen, we thought that we knew exactly what we wanted. When he drew what I described, we weren't thrilled. He was able to offer suggestions when we weren't sure and ideas that we had never even considered. I am so thankful for his expertise! He saved us money and created a masterpiece better than we had even hoped for.”

Sheedy Watts Design

Average rating: 4 out of 5 stars10 March 2014
“My rating is actually 4+, but the system only allows for whole numbers. My wife and I contracted Ray Sheedy in 2004 to help us with the renovation of a 1927 home. We were still living in the Washington, DC area, but needed an architect/designer in the Charlotte area. After being referred to Ray and a brief conversation with him, he was immediately taking measurements and determining the feasibility of some of the things we were considering. We spent about two months collaborating with Ray and finalizing our plans. My wife commented several times about how well Ray listened and we were both impressed with his creative suggestions. The construction took another 6-7 months. During the construction process Ray checked on the progress and was available when things came up and we needed to make adjustments or decisions. Looking back, I should have taken his advice regarding more of the adjustments. He really was acting as our advocate and trying to ensure that the building was done according to the plan. We still live in the house and are really pleased with the design. The design has held up well and we are pleased with our decision to use an architect. We are surprised that so many people do major renovations without getting the professional help of an architect/designer.”

“I have worked in many homes throughout the past 25 years that Don Duffy and his group of talented architects has designed. I have been in home owner meetings with Don. It is apparent to me that Don has a sincere concern for transforming the home owners dreams into reality by listening carefully and coming up with thoughtful ideas that reflect the homeowners own personal life style. “Chris and Kevin came up with a great plan for an addition to my house, a Dilworth bungalow originally built in 1914. the process included obtaining approval of the Historic Commission, which was not an easy process, but Chris and Kevin accompanied me to the meetings. once the process began we had to make some changes because of unanticipated structural challenges, but the changes to the layout were handled brilliantly. I would highly recommend them for any type of new or renovation work. They didn't try and impose their vision on me, but rather got a sense of what I wanted and crafted the project with that in mind.”
